Developer People Can Fly has released an initial mini-update for the demo of Outriders on the servers. What does Patch 1.4 bring? Here are the patch notes.
Just a few days after the release of the Demo of the loot shooter Outriders a first update was released. However, this is more of a mini-update.
The patch notes may suggest that more updates could come before the official release of the game. MeinMMO summarizes everything about Patch 1.4 for you.
What’s in the Outriders demo update
The patch notes: According to People Can Fly, Patch 1.4 does not bring any direct changes to the demo itself. On their official Twitter channel, it merely states that the update brings improvements for fundamental systems.
It literally states: “We are bringing updated builds to PC and Playstation, Xbox will follow later next week. This way we can improve our backend analytics systems that are used for balancing and troubleshooting.”
What does this mean? Basically, the developers want to prepare to better track which content needs improvement in the future. So it is a kind of preparation for subsequent updates, presumably for both the demo and the release.
When was the update released? Patch 1.4 (1.004.000) was released on February 27 for PS4 and PS5.
Here are the download sizes:
- PS4: 220.8 MB
- PS5: 314 MB
What about the other platforms? The update should actually have already been applied on PC. However, there is no update available for download on Steam.
The version number has also not changed. It is possible that the update has already been installed in the background for you. The update for Xbox consoles is expected to follow next week.
Are more updates coming before release?
This is currently unclear. The patch could indicate that more bugs are already being fixed in the demo. The demo has been struggling with some technical issues:
- There are problems with matchmaking
- The game can crash repeatedly on Steam
- Dialogues are often not in sync
- FPS caps and motion blur make for exhausting cutscenes – this is how you can at least disable motion blur on PC
It is possible that some of the problems will be fixed in the demo before release, but keep in mind that these are just assumptions.
It could just as well be that they want to gather more feedback to improve the release version. Either way, this should benefit interested Outriders.
