The shooter Outriders received a new update on Friday. However, it brought some bugs and issues with damage scaling. On reddit and Steam, many users are now complaining about the patch. Some even say that Outriders was better at release than it is at the current time.
What happened? On April 30, the largest update for Outriders so far was released. Patch 1.07 brought numerous changes, including:
- Bug fixes for crashes and bugs
- Adjustments to level scaling for groups
- Bug fixes for various mods
- A solution for the issue of crash reports that could fill up the hard drive
However, the update had server issues and a bug related to player armor and survivability when it launched.
Furthermore, the serious bug that could cause the inventory of numerous players to disappear has still not been fixed.
What are players criticizing now? Patch 1.07 introduced some new problems and bugs into the game. Particularly, the damage scaling is seen as problematic.
Some players are suddenly being killed in content by an attack they were previously able to handle with ease. They are currently even calling Outriders unplayable. Players are also upset because the update was released on a Friday, and it seems no fix will arrive until Monday.
Those who currently check the subreddit find dozens of threads on the front page complaining about the issues.
Problems with the mods, one-shots, and bugs
What is the biggest problem? The biggest criticism currently relates to the scaling of damage, especially the damage that players must endure. In a video, a tank with 24,000 health is killed in one hit by the Brood Mother:
Players suspect a bug behind this, as not every player is eliminated immediately by an attack. Certain mods for damage reduction are reportedly not functioning correctly.
Another example of such one-shots is shown by the reddit user unseen_ogre, who is also killed in CT15 by a mob that just appeared with one hit:
Under the reddit post, many players gather who have had similar experiences. They are particularly bothered by the lack of a way to escape these one-shots. They demand clear telegraphs or animations that they can specifically avoid. Situations like those in the two clips are simply frustrating.
What other problems are there? On reddit, numerous problems with the game have been listed, including:
- Hitboxes – Sometimes opponents cannot be hit because dead enemies are in the way. On the other hand, enemies can shoot through living enemies (via reddit).
- The range of some enemies is said to be much too large (via reddit).
- Various mods, including not only damage reduction, are not functioning correctly (via reddit).
- Issues with FPS and connection to the game
Additionally, there are human issues, such as trolls who kick other players from the group just before rewards.
Some even found the demo better than the current game
What do players say about Outriders? Some of the players are currently harshly criticizing Outriders:
- Ronin-76 writes: “I really liked this game, I love the gameplay, the campaign was incredible, but after this patch I think that’s it. This new patch made the game worse than ever (besides the inventory bug). This is not balancing. I see only nerfs, nothing is being buffed or improved. Nerfs and bugs, that’s all there is here” (via reddit).
- The user 115049 even thinks that Outriders has deteriorated compared to the demo: “It is worse than in the demo. In the demo, I could damn well use crossplay with my child” (via reddit). He refers to the fact that crossplay was not possible for a long time and is still risky now.
Was it really better at release? At release, Outriders had massive problems with the server and stability. At least they have managed to get those under control in recent weeks. However, with the latest update, some severe bugs seem to have appeared in the game.
Depending on whether you are affected by these bugs, the impression may arise that Outriders was indeed better at release.
Do all players think so negatively? No, because there are also some users who are not affected by the inventory bug or the bugs related to the mods or who are not as upset about it. They see Outriders as a good co-op shooter and are having fun with the game.
However, these players are currently in the minority on reddit and in discussions on Steam.
What have your experiences with Outriders and especially the new patch been like? Are you also facing problems, or are you going through the game without major bugs?
