Who is Ali-A? Alastair Aiken, known as Ali-A or Matroix, is one of the most famous British YouTubers. He creates videos around Call of Duty and Fortnite and currently has 17.5 million subscribers (as of May 17, 2022). However, many players disdain Ali for his tactics, how he brings in the clicks for his videos.
Exaggerated thumbnails of his videos accompanied by unnecessary and misplaced red arrows with distorted faces are what this is about – also known as clickbait.
Every YouTuber has heard of it and some practice it as well, to easily and quickly attract many viewers to their videos. But Alastair has redefined clickbait.
Ali-A has taken clickbait to a new level
What has Ali-A done wrong? The 28-year-old YouTuber has a bad reputation in the Fortnite community. On reddit it was discussed why Ali-A is so hated.
It’s not only the exceedingly exaggerated images of his videos that encourage clicks, but also his videos that do not deliver what is promised in the title.
Players in Fortnite or passionate YouTube viewers have seen through his trick and disdain the tactic he uses to generate clicks on the video platform. Despite this, Epic Games announced that they will dedicate a skin in Fortnite to Alastair, which overshadows many previous icons skins.
Although Ali does not clickbait as much anymore, this has been ingrained in the memory of many viewers. Many know that when a video with a red arrow appears on his channel, it is worth considering twice whether to click on it at all.
Ali’s skin is currently the best of the Icons Series: iFireMonkey, a well-known leaker, has listed all the cosmetic items and styles of his skin. These show a huge amount of combination possibilities that players will have after purchase.
Compared to Ninja’s skin, Ali-A’s outfit is currently the best, even though Ninja practically represents the face of Fortnite.
Ninja had long begged for his own skin and then received it after months of requests. Alastair, however, receives a better outfit with cooler items and without any request from his side.
