In his new video about Throne and Liberty, the well-known YouTuber TheLazyPeon warns all new players: With just one wrong decision, you can ruin your entire gaming experience!
What decision is that? Specifically, TheLazyPeon addresses in his new video on YouTube the choice of the two weapons with which you want to get started in Throne and Liberty. Without a fixed class structure and thanks to the ability to equip different weapons at any time, the MMORPG’s system seems quite flexible and free – similar to, for example, New World.
According to the YouTuber, however, character progression is designed in such a way that all those who do not research in advance what mistakes to avoid and how the systems for progress work in detail will become frustrated.
In his opinion, he has never played an MMORPG where it is so important to commit early to a playstyle (and thus the weapons) and then to stick slavishly to build guides. Videos and articles on the topic “10 mistakes you should definitely avoid” have been invented for Throne and Liberty, according to TheLazyPeon’s winkling assessment.

Essential decision at the start
Why is the choice of weapons so important? Closely associated with the weapons is the corresponding mastery. You gain points for the talent trees of your weapons by using them in battle.
Many players will likely need several weeks to learn the most important talents of a weapon combination. If you have to start from scratch again due to a change of weapons, you will noticeably lose character strength for a long period.
The same applies if you switch to weapons whose skills you have not yet leveled. During the leveling phase, you receive quite a few skill books needed to level up abilities. However, after completing the story campaign, farming the books becomes significantly more tedious. Also, the skill transformation books with which you can transfer upgrades to other skills are limited.

Finally, you should ideally align your equipment setup (that is, the stats on the items) to your chosen weapons and playstyle. If you change weapons, you may need completely new gear to be effective. Upgrading a second set of items is – similar to skills – very time-consuming.
What exacerbates the problem? Making such an important decision already in the tutorial or during the initial level-ups is incredibly difficult. How are new players supposed to know how their weapon combination will feel with the final rotation at level 50?
If someone realizes too late in the game that they made the wrong weapon choice, they will have to put in a tremendous effort to level up a different combination of peacekeepers. This is likely to frustrate and demotivate many affected players.

There are indeed some things in Throne and Liberty that you can get wrong due to lack of prior knowledge, which can set you back enormously in character progression – especially if you aim to make your best possible contribution in the endgame.
My recommendation is therefore: Take your time to try out all the weapons that seem interesting to you, but avoid leveling skills and upgrading blue or epic equipment for the time being. At least until you have decided on a combination of weapons.
