7 Days to Die was first released in 2013. After nearly 11 years in Early Access, the game is finally set to fully release – on Steam, PS5, and Xbox. The creators reveal their roadmap for the future, but there is a small catch for console fans.

- You play survivors in a zombie apocalypse. The gameplay is quite simple: gather resources, build bases, and defend against zombies. Roughly, the game is a mix between DayZ and Minecraft.

When will 7 Days to Die be released? Developer The Fun Pimps has now announced that 7 Days to Die will be released in the 1.0 version with the next update, exiting Early Access (via 7daystodie.com).
The release is planned for June 2024 for PC and July for PlayStation and Xbox. A specific date is still pending. Along with the 1.0 update, the following will come:
- Reworked vehicles
- new animals
- a new “gore” system for zombies, that is, blood and dismemberment
- zombie variety
- a new challenge system and several other revisions
The update will be so large that it will differ too much from the existing version in the PS Store and the Microsoft Store for an upgrade to be possible, it is said. This means: 7 Days to Die will be released as a new version that you will need to buy again.
The developers are already in talks with Sony and Microsoft to negotiate a possible discount. Steam players will simply receive an update, as the PC version is currently sufficient.

Developers promise another update in 2024, more content in 2025
In the video on YouTube, the developers show a roadmap for upcoming content for 7 Days to Die. The “Storms Brewing” update is set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024, that is, between October and December. This will bring:
- a new weather system and revamp of the biome progression
- a wardrobe
- crossplay for consoles as well as Twitch Drops, outfit DLCs, and the ability to spawn at friends’ locations instead of “somewhere”
For 2025, the two updates “A New Threat” and “The Road Ahead” are planned. These will include bandits coming into play, an event system, a story mode, and new quests. Additionally, systems like vendors and the menu will be revamped.
By the end of 2025, 7 Days to Die is also expected to be supported by the Steam Workshop. This is usually the crucial step to provide modders with easier access to create mods.
