The tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege is hosting an extended free weekend on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. For a whole four days, you can play one of the best shooters for free. MeinMMO shows you where to find the download and what you can try out.
When is the free weekend? The free weekend starts tomorrow, Thursday, June 11, and ends on Monday, June 15. The exact times, however, depend on the platform:
- PlayStation 4: June 11, 15:00 – June 15, 15:00
- PC: June 11, 15:00 – June 15, 22:00
- Xbox One: June 11, 9:00 – June 15, 19:00
For PC and PS4, Rainbow Six can already be downloaded in advance. For Xbox One, the download starts with the event itself. You will also need Xbox Live Gold. To play multiplayer on PS4, you need PS Plus.
Where can I find the download? Depending on the platform, you can find the download in different areas:
- PS4: Visit the Rainbow Six Siege shop page in the PS Store, click on “try the free demo” directly under “Add to Cart”
- PC: Download the Uplay launcher from the official site and install Rainbow Six from there.
- Xbox One: Navigate to the Microsoft Store to the shop page of Rainbow Six Siege and browse through the “Games with Gold” section

Free-2-Play Weekend – What can I do?
This is what the demo offers: While you play, you will have no limitations; the entire game is available to you. All maps and modes that Rainbow Six offers can be played, including:
- the Terrorist Hunt, a PvE mode solo or co-op with friends
- “Situations,” which explain game-relevant mechanics
- quick or re-evaluated matches against other players
The only limitation is that you will only have access to the first 20 operators, as in the demo in March. All others must be unlocked first. However, all progress will carry over if you choose to purchase the game.
During the event, some editions are discounted by up to 70%. We recommend the Deluxe or Gold Edition for the quite useful contents instead of the only slightly cheaper Standard Edition.
In the free demo, you can play with all players who already own Rainbow Six Siege or who also take advantage of the free weekend. If you want to start together with friends, this is the optimal opportunity.
What makes Rainbow Six so good? Rainbow Six Siege is considered one of the best shooters of 2020, particularly because Ubisoft has continuously improved it over the years.
Many bugs have been fixed and new content has been regularly added, such as maps, operators, and events, like the recent “Grand Larceny” event with unique skins.
Even old operators are being reworked when they are no longer strong enough to make them useful again.
The next season is already set to start in June, the 3rd season of year 5, where the new operators Ace and Melusi will be unlocked. This expands Rainbow Six with additional operators featuring interesting mechanics for even more tactical gameplay. There is no official release date yet, but June 16 is the most likely date according to many sources.
Siege also impresses with a strong Esports scene, which has already grown large in Germany. Currently, the GSA League is running, which we at MeinMMO accompany as media partners. Eight teams from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland compete for €40,000 in prize money. During the first matchday of the league, more than 7,500 fans were tuning in at peak.
If you are interested in tactical shooters and esports titles, you should take the weekend to check out Rainbow Six. Rainbow Six Siege is set to become Free2Play, but that is not yet the case, and until then, such events are a good opportunity to get a free impression of the game.
