What game is this about? Battlestar Galactica Deadlock is a strategy game from the developer Black Lab Games, released on August 31, 2017, on Steam. The setting is the eponymous sci-fi universe of Battlestar Galactica.
The original series, which was titled “Battlestar Galactica” in German, aired from 1978 to 1980, but the game is based on the 2004 reboot. On Steam, the game currently has 2,558 ratings with a very good 86 percent positive reviews.
On November 15, 2025, Battlestar Galactica Deadlock will disappear from the stores: Owners will not lose access to the game, but missing DLCs will not be available for purchase anymore.

Successful mix of real-time and turn-based strategy
What is the game about? In Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, you take control of the Colonial Fleet. Your mission is to defend the Twelve Colonies during the First Cylon War. The story takes place before the events of the actual series, serving as a kind of prequel.
On the command bridge of the mobile shipyard Daidalos, you train troops and build new battleships. There you also find a world map where you move your armies. When you receive the signal that one of your fleets is under attack, you jump into the battle.
The space battles in Battlestar Galactica Deadlock occur in a combination of real-time and turn-based strategy:
- At the beginning of each battle, you position your fleet. Then you give individual ships commands.
- When you end your turn, both your ships and your enemy’s ships execute their commands simultaneously. During this time, you cannot give them any further commands.
This way, battles proceed in real-time, but you can still take enough time to plan your actions.
