Space Marine 2 is one of the best games that Warhammer 40,000 fans have received in recent years. However, its good reputation is somewhat tarnished after the developers served their fans a DLC morsel that was not well received.
What kind of DLC is this? On February 26, 2026, developer Saber Interactive released a bundle of new content: including a new Champion Pack that allows you to equip your Space Marine of the Attacker class with armor from the Raven Guard, and a cosmetic package for an Order that is too nasty for the Emperor, yet remains loyal.
The third DLC that was released on that day is the Chapter Voice Pack 1. For €4.99, you get 450 new voice lines as well as a unique head cosmetic for each of the three Space Marine Orders: Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and Black Templars. And it is this DLC that is making fans angry.
The reviews for the DLC on Steam are “extremely negative,” and only 16% of the 670 reviews recommend it. This makes the Voice Pack received far worse than all previous DLCs.
New Voice Pack Disappoints Across the Board
What is the problem with the DLC? According to fans, the Voice Pack offers not only too little content but also does not provide what players expected. Moreover, they tried to make the DLC appear bigger than it actually is.
Fans were expecting entertaining banter between Space Marines, as seen in the co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Instead, they got some altered emotes for each of the three Orders and some combat sounds with the new voices, nothing more.
Instead of “For the Emperor,” you can now shout “For the Allfather,” explains a user on Reddit. This is how the Space Wolves refer to the Emperor. However, when your character is in a regular dialogue within a mission, they immediately switch back to their original voice because this was not re-recorded with the new speakers.
Furthermore, the number of new voice lines can be misleading, fans argue. It does not mean 450 new voice lines per voice output but in total. Since Space Marine 2 has seven different voice outputs, it means significantly fewer per language than advertised.
To top it off, the pack is not even included in any of the season passes. Even fans who have purchased these would still have to pay extra for these new voice lines.
Players Receive an Apology – and Money Back
What do the developers say about it? The publisher Focus Entertainment commented on the players’ dissatisfaction on March 19, 2026, in a post on X.com. It states:
“It is obvious that this DLC did not manage to meet your expectations, and we are sorry for that. Delivering quality content – whether free or not – is a priority for us.”
For this reason, they have now decided to refund all previous purchasers of the DLC. The Voice Pack will also be available for free.
