Update: The release for PC is confirmed! Data miners have found hints that the people responsible for Rockstar Games are currently preparing for the PC release of a game that holds an average score of 95 on Metacritic: Red Dead Redemption 1.
Update from October 8, 2024: There is finally the official confirmation! Red Dead Redemption is set to release in the Game of the Year edition on October 29, 2024 for Steam and the Epic Games Store. Included: the Undead Nightmare expansion. The PC port is expected to offer the following technical features:
- Native 4K resolution
- Support for ultrawide and super ultrawide
- HDR10 support, full keyboard and mouse functions
- Support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0
- NVIDIA DLSS frame generation

Original report from May 14, 2024: The findings of data miner Tez2 revolve around Red Dead Redemption, which was released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Although there is now the option to experience the Western epic on newer Xbox and PlayStation consoles as well as the Nintendo Switch, there has never been a port for PC. Unlike the hugely successful sequel Red Dead Redemption 2 from 2018: which was considered by some to be the best game of recent years.

The first Red Dead Redemption is considered a classic and is among the highest-rated games on Metacritic. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions boast an average rating of 95.
What has the data miner discovered? According to Tez2, a few hours ago there was an update for the Rockstar launcher. The new files include promotional strings advertising that Red Dead Redemption and the zombie spin-off Undead Nightmare will be playable on PC.
Using such a string, the Rockstar team has previously promoted other games like GTA V, as Tez2 noted in another tweet on X.
What is the significance of this discovery? It is difficult to assess from a distance. However, it is clear that there have been many rumors about a PC version of Red Dead Redemption that have always turned out to be false. Therefore, until an official confirmation, you should view this discovery with some skepticism.
Is Red Dead Redemption still fun today? RDR is a typical Rockstar game, with all the narrative and gameplay qualities that you can also find in the sequel, the GTA series, or in Max Payne.
