Mario has been a character in a variety of games and genres over the years. In the SteamWorld Games on Steam, this is also the case, but here small robots keep appearing.
What kind of game series is this? Everyone knows the character Mario, but when it comes to which game is associated with him, opinions vary. He became famous through jump ‘n’ runs like Super Mario, but you can also find him in Mario Kart or in the Mario role-playing games.
It is similar for the little robots of the SteamWorld series. Whether in a Metroidvania like SteamWorld Dig, a strategy game like SteamWorld Heist, or a city-building game like SteamWorld Build. The robots have their own universe and are received by players as well as Mario himself.

Strong Offer for Strong Games
What offer is currently running? On Steam, you can currently get six popular titles from the SteamWorld universe for only 31 €. Compared to the individual prices of the games, this currently saves you over 90 €. For your money, you will get the following games:
- SteamWorld Heist – A 2D strategy game like XCOM, but you have to aim yourself and your bullets bounce off the walls.
- SteamWorld Heist II – The sequel to the 2D strategy game with many new featuresthat enhance the game.
- SteamWorld Dig – A 2D Metroidvania where you dig tunnels and find treasures.
- SteamWorld Dig 2 – The significantly improved sequel, which offers more puzzles, secrets, and variety.
- SteamWorld Build – One of the newer games in the universe, where you build a robot city and also have to manage resources.
- SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech – A 2D RPG where your goal is to create a good deck of cards to eliminate all enemies.
The games themselves are also individually on sale, as are their DLCs. However, by bundling the games, you save even more, so you should consider what is more worthwhile for you.
How are the games received? The SteamWorld games are all rated very positively by players. While almost all games have over 95% positive ratings, only SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech with 87% and SteamWorld Build with 79% positive ratings stand out slightly.
However, for the latter, there was a free update in August that has increased the recent ratings to 85% positive. One game is missing from the package, the first SteamWorld game, SteamWorld Tower Defense, which was released exclusively for the Nintendo DSi back then.
Even though the city-builder SteamWorld Build is not as well received by players as the other games in the universe, it might be worth taking a look at the Anno connection: New game on Steam connects Anno with an absolute classic from 1997 – Coming in 2023
