In Once Human, there are various creatures (“mutations”) that support you in your base. One of them is very useful – and you should definitely use it.
Which creature resembles Minecraft? With its cube-shaped head, the mutation “Digby Boy” (in German: “Elementare Jugend”) resembles Minecraft monsters – somewhat similar to the Creepers. However, this little silver guy doesn’t blow up your base; on the contrary, he helps you gather important resources.
How does the mutation help me? As soon as you deploy the Digby Boy in your base, he will soon start mining ores for you – such as copper ore and tin ore. You need ores in Once Human in the form of bars for crafting, calibrating, and repairing weapons, but also for expanding your base.

How do I deploy the mutation? To deploy mutations in the base, you need “Isolated Security Cells.” At the beginning, you can build five of them until you unlock more through the memetics. Interact with the “Security Cell” and right-click to place the Digby Boy inside so he can mine ores for you. You can also collect the gathered ores through the “Security Cell.”
Each mutation has specific preferences. If you meet these preferences, they recover their mutation power and mood faster. The Digby Boy has the following preferences:
- Red light
- Radio
- Electricity (consume 5 W power)
Where can I find the mutation? You get the Digby Boy by mining ores. According to the Once Human Wiki, silver ore has the highest drop chance for the little guy. You can find silver ore in various regions – including near the teleport tower northwest of the village “Highland” in the Iron River area (coordinates: 4671, -4339).
If you’re not lucky and can’t find silver ore, just switch to another world at the teleport tower. One more tip: To save unnecessary running around the tower, we recommend equipping a precision rifle and scanning the area with the scope.
In Once Human, you can not only team up with your friends but also with numerous mutations. The mutations support you in your base, gather resources, and even produce resources themselves.
