On November 8, 2023, version 4.2 “Masquerade of the Guilty” launched in Genshin Impact with new banners and characters. Here you can find all the important information about the new version summarized.
When did version 4.2 release? On November 7, 2023, at 11:00 PM, the update to the new version was completed. During that time, you couldn’t play Genshin Impact.
But since Wednesday, the new version is online and 700 Primogems are waiting for you in the mailbox as compensation for the server downtime and problem fixes.

These are the new contents of version 4.2 in Genshin Impact
What new characters are there in version 4.2? With Hydro Archon Furina and reporter Charlotte, two new characters from the Fontaine region are joining the game.
- Furina is a Hydro character and uses a one-handed sword
- Charlotte is a Cryo character and uses a catalyst
What banners are there in version 4.2? The first phase will run from the start of the update until November 28, 2023, 5:59 PM, and will include these special banners:
- “Song of the Streams”: featuring Furina as a 5-star character; Charlotte, Collei, and Beidou as 4-star characters
- “Pulsing Life”: featuring Baizhu as a 5-star character; Charlotte, Collei, and Beidou as 4-star characters
- “Divine Work” with “One-handed – Splendor of Still Waters” and “Catalyst– Jadefall Splendor”; several 4-star weapons
In the second phase, Cyno (Electro and Polearm) and Ayato (Hydro and One-handed sword) will have their reruns.
A small note: Currently, there is also an online event with “VIP Ace Detective” for Furina, where you can earn Primogems among other rewards. From November 6, 2023, 12:00 PM to November 12, 2023, 11:59 PM (UTC+8), you can participate.
What events are there in part 1 of version 4.2? More information is available about these events that will start soon in the new version of Genshin Impact:
- “Thelxies Fantastic Adventure”: event period from November 23, 2023, 10:00 AM to December 11, 2023, 3:59 AM; with Freminet, Primogems, and Crown of Wisdom as rewards
- “Lost City at the Front – Realm of Water”: event period from November 9, 2023, 10:00 AM to November 20, 2023, 3:59 AM with Primogems, Hero’s Wisdom, and Ascension materials for weapons as rewards
- “Experiment Records on Graphic Countermeasures”: event period from November 17, 2023, 10:00 AM to November 27, 2023, 3:59 AM; with Primogems and Hero’s Wisdom as rewards
- “Brilliant Summon: Embers of the Kingdom – Endless Battle”: event period during the availability of the version
What else is in version 4.2? In addition to the continuation of the Archon quest, 2 new areas will be added to the game. Also, two new bosses with the “Star-Eating Narwhal” and the “Hydro-Imitator” will appear.
Furina will receive her own legend quest and the characters Nilou, Dori, and Baizhu will get cards in the minigame “Brilliant Summon”.
