ARK: Survival Evolved is one of the best and most complex survival MMOs you can play right now. To ensure a smooth start, there are special beginner servers. And that’s where a wipe has just occurred.
What happened? The beginner servers in ARK experienced a complete wipe on January 26. This means that existing characters, achievements obtained, and buildings constructed were deleted.
So anyone starting on one of these servers now begins from scratch along with everyone else. This is quite rare in MMOs.
The servers can be played until March 23. After that, there will be another wipe.
What are these servers? The beginner servers in ARK are specifically designed for new players who want to take their first steps in the survival MMO. The servers have special rules:
- Players can reach a maximum level of 44. The cap is actually 155.
- Wild dinos have a maximum level of 30, domesticated dinos can gain an additional 30 levels
- There are no alliances
- Tribes, like guilds in the game, can have a maximum of 5 members
Due to the level cap, some engravings cannot be unlocked. Engrams give survivors permanent crafting recipes with which they can create weapons or equipment, for example. These can be found in chests.
If anyone gets enough of the beginner servers, they can upload their character to regular servers and continue playing and leveling up there.
What beginners should note in ARK
ARK is a hardcore survival game. You start naked and without equipment. There are dangers everywhere from hunger and thirst, aggressive dinosaurs, and generally from the hostile environment.
To ensure that other players aren’t a problem, you should start on a PvE server. Another tip is to start on the southern coast. The climate there is friendly and the dinos are not as deadly.
Otherwise, ARK offers the usual survival content such as the sleeping bag as a spawn point, a campfire for warmth at night, and base building, so you have a retreat point.
One of the coolest aspects of the game is taming dinosaurs. You can use them for assistance in gathering resources or for traveling and fighting.
