The Twitter user Sabi leaked many details about new games before the E3 press conferences. Now he received a message from Nintendo’s lawyers.
Who is Sabi? The user “Sabi” spread many details about the games that were showcased before the E3 press conferences of Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft, and Square Enix via Twitter.
These included details about the multiplayer mode of Doom Eternal and the features of the Xbox Scarlett. The leaked details turned out to be correct.
In the past months, Sabi mentioned that he and a few others would learn everything about the games before the conferences, including those from Nintendo. However, he said he would probably only receive the information on Monday.
Nintendo threatens a leaker
What happened now? However, there have been no leaks regarding Nintendo’s press conference so far. There is a specific reason for that. As Sabi explains, he received a call from a mysterious person. They stated that Nintendo became aware of him and would initiate legal action if information about the E3 press conference was leaked.
An email followed with the name of a lawyer who, according to research, has indeed worked for Nintendo before. Ultimately, Sabi agreed not to leak anything further.
What did Nintendo say? The email stated the following:
“As previously mentioned, Nintendo is aware of your online activities, including on Twitter and Discord, regarding the disclosure of confidential information about Nintendo’s games. It is also known that you intend to share such information ahead of E3.”
Furthermore, it continued: “Nintendo considers your activities to be an abuse of its trade secrets. If you continue to disclose such information or pursue your plans regarding E3 information, Nintendo will consider all legal options, including initiating court proceedings against you.”
Leaker feels creeped out
Sabi is surprised: Sabi actually expected that someone from the other companies would contact him, as he had indeed disclosed information from Bethesda and Microsoft beforehand.
Moreover, he found it “creepy” that he could be tracked down since he does not currently live in the country where he is a citizen. Somehow, Nintendo got hold of his private number.
What about the leaks? Sabi mentioned that his source, whose name he obviously did not want to reveal and whom he has only known for a few weeks, will surely find another way to leak the information about Nintendo’s E3 press conference. If not through Sabi, then through someone else.
When is the Nintendo conference taking place? Nintendo will present the game lineup at the E3 tonight at 6 PM.
