With the Fresh Start servers, many new and old players came to the MMORPG New World on November 2, 2022. Users in the subreddit give hints about what the developer Amazon urgently needs to do to avoid losing players again.
Since the Fresh Start servers went online, there have been an average of nearly 60 thousand players online at the same time in New World (via Steamcharts). This is the average for the last 30 days. Previously, the average was nearly half, significantly lower in summer. We can therefore talk about a hype that the MMORPG has been experiencing in recent weeks.
However, if you are not playing with friends who are constantly online, you will quickly encounter the group finder and thus a problem. “Even as a tank in low-level dungeons, I find it difficult to find a group,” writes the user Persies under a Reddit post on the topic.
Players can’t find groups – Despite the group finder
At around level 40, you come to a dungeon as part of the main quest and encounter a problem: The group finder. If you don’t set up a group in the chat beforehand, you click on the dungeon, which opens the feature.
You create a lobby or join one. Teammates can sign up and are accepted or rejected by the group leader. There are 5 slots that can be filled by damage dealers, healers, and tanks.
What is the problem? The search is very slow. When a request comes in, it’s mostly a DD – filling the group only with these would be relatively pointless. A tank or healer is rarely there, and if it takes too long for the person, they can simply leave the group.
By the time the content actually starts, a lot of time passes. In expeditions and mutators of various contents, which you can complete from level 60, the search is said to be even more difficult. “I’m getting bored and logging off,” writes harby13, who started the post.
Tips for newcomers in New World can be seen in the video:
The solution would be cross-server content
For the content Outpost Rush, a 20vs20 battle in New World, there will soon be cross-server matchmaking. The developers confirmed this under a forum post: “To ensure that players can participate in content like Outpost Rush if they are on a world with a lower population, we are actively working on cross-server matches.”
Players are also demanding this in Reddit for other content. “The longer it takes, the more the problem will solve itself (not in a good way),” writes randrogynous. He means that many players are leaving New World because they simply can’t find anyone to complete content. “The developers could also improve the group finder,” he adds.
More user opinions:
- Peliss: “If everything works cross-server, they will stop losing players and won’t see the player numbers drop on all servers.”
- OddFrenchGuy: “Are you in no company? They should be there to help you.”
- duanleag: “They need to implement that you can queue from anywhere, not just right in front of the dungeon.”
- Aventus2: “Cross-server dungeons are a great idea. Today I waited 7 hours on my server to do Tempest.”
The majority of New World players agree that not only Outpost Rush needs a cross-server mode but all content in New World. The fact that the developers have already started to implement this raises hopes for further cross-server content.
What do you think: Does New World need better matchmaking for the group finder and cross-server content? Or should the developers look into another problem first? Do you also have trouble finding teammates for specific content? Feel free to write us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
