Recently, you can experience New World not only on PC but also on PS5 and Xbox Series. Some veterans seem to take this as a reason to bash console players in the chat.
What is the current mood in New World? Basically, it’s quite good. Many players are currently having fun with the new Aeternum version. The well-visited crossplay servers also promote the MMO feeling. You encounter other player characters everywhere. The proverbial bear is dancing in the chat.
However, this also leads to bad moods at the moment. The tone is quite rough at times. I myself have already
- witnessed arguments filled with insults between fans of New World on one side and Throne and Liberty on the other
- read about a seemingly Italian guild looking for female reinforcements to “abuse”
- endured inappropriate comments about the latest Asmongold incident
- and heard all kinds of jabs from the “PC elite” against the new console players
Despite this report, there are good reasons to play New World Aeternum:
Toxic Behavior Towards the Newcomers
What about the console players? Well, they are the “newbies” to whom many of the adjustments of the Aeternum version are owed. Adjustments for areas like the user interface or the settings, which are heavily criticized in the PC community.
Time and again, players read on Steam or Reddit that Amazon Games has forgotten the PC community in Aeternum and is only looking at the consoles, where there is much more money to be made. This seems to motivate part of the PC community to constantly bash console players in the in-game chat of New World.
How does the bashing manifest? In several Reddit threads, players of New World are currently discussing the hatred that console players sometimes face in the chat.
- MikeBizzleVT writes in his post on Reddit: “90 percent in the global chat is console hate and attempts to troll console players. I have played every major MMO, and this is worse than gold bots. I understand why some of us just want to play on consoles.”
- Fred_C_1993 explains in his post on Reddit: “I myself am a PC player and have started to report the harassment towards console players or the harassment towards anyone who ‘dares’ to enjoy New World.”
- AtlasJQ describes his experience on Reddit: “Me and my PS5 buddies switched to Cimmeria last night, after I realized that the only way to find the PS5 server is five menus deep – most people won’t do that. […] We had to turn off the entire chat because the Edgelords were just spamming nonsense and disrupting the mood significantly.”
- TheCoJoeMan also found the chat unbearable (via Reddit): “I had to mute Global. The sheer brain rot was astounding.”
This was just a small excerpt from hundreds of comments with similar reports and statements.
How can I play on pure console servers? Here’s a reminder for all console players who don’t like crossplay: If you want to play on the servers Mardi (PlayStation only) or Iroko (Xbox only), you must first disable crossplay in the settings. Otherwise, the pure console servers in Europe will not be displayed.
