New World focuses primarily on group content in the endgame. Whether wars, outpost raids, dungeons, or farm trains: you will always be on the move with other players. However, you can easily complete the leveling process or daily quests alone. That’s why we at MeinMMO would like to introduce you to a build specifically designed for solo players.
What is this about? You can manage the leveling process and some small tasks in New World quite well on your own. The enemies are not always easy, but the various faction tasks and the challenges of resource gathering make it enjoyable to roam alone through Aeternum.
It’s no wonder that MeinMMO editor Mark Sellner is disturbed by teammates in New World.
In this guide, we would like to present you with a really strong build for solo players, with which you will definitely not have any problems in the open world. We will explain which weapons, equipment, and skills you should use.
If, on the other hand, you are looking for strong group or PvP builds, you will find them here:
- 3 strong general PvP builds
- 2 strong DD builds for wars and outpost raids
- The best builds for tanks in expeditions
- With this strong DPS build, you will rock boss fights and expeditions
Axe and Life Staff constantly secure your survival
Which weapons are used? In this build, you will use the axe and life staff.
The axe is ideal because it combines a lot of damage with some survivability skills. The Berserker ability later provides protection from CC and health regeneration. A passive effect also prevents you from dying and instead makes you invulnerable for 3 seconds.
The life staff, on the other hand, brings plenty of healing. This allows you to save yourself in difficult fights and also reduces the waiting time between two fights. Instead of eating to regain health, you can simply spam healing skills.
I personally used the axe throughout my entire leveling phase and switched back and forth between the war axe and life staff, depending on whether more damage or healing was needed in an elite area.
How do I distribute the attributes? Here you have two different options:
- I personally play with 100 on Constitution for extra health and the rest on Strength for extra damage
- Some players, however, also rely on 100 Constitution and the rest in Focus for more healing with the life staff
Which skills do I use with the axe?
- Berserker
- Wild Rush
- Raging Floods
In the first levels, you will skill “Berserker” with the axe and then follow the Berserker line in the early stages to skill the passive effects “On the Hunt” and “Berserker Refresh.” This increases your movement speed and regenerates health in Berserker mode.
You will then unlock Wild Rush next. You use this to jump to enemies that are not directly next to you. Raging Floods, the third ability, deals a lot of damage and subsequently increases your movement speed.
After that, you will first skill the abilities further and then the passive effects surrounding them. Especially the last passive – Defy Death – is an important skill because it makes you invulnerable.
You will then distribute the last points in the second tree “Throw” to increase your crit chance.
Which skills do I use with the life staff?
- Blessed Ground
- Protection Sphere
- Beacon
Your first skill points should be invested in the Protector skill tree. There, you unlock the abilities “Protection Sphere.” At weapon level 2, you activate the passive effect Absolution from the healer tree, so you no longer spend mana on attacks. Then you unlock the ability “Blessed Ground.”
Finally, you get the ability Beacon. The special thing about this build is that you do not unlock any of the last abilities in the skill trees. Both focus on healing teammates, but this build focuses on being self-sufficient in the world.
That’s why you focus on many passive effects that make your life easier. These include effects like “Protector’s Touch,” which protects you from damage when attacking enemies, or “Balance,” which gives you movement speed when you fall below 50% health.
What does the gear look like? Basically, you have two options here:
- Light armor increases your damage, your healing, and you can make a larger dodge roll
- Heavy armor, on the other hand, gives you a lot of defense, but you almost completely lose the dodge roll
If you prefer to actively dodge attacks and also want to use dodging for faster movement, you should go for light armor. This usually works quite well in solo play.
Complete beginners and movement-averse players, on the other hand, should opt for heavy armor. This allows you to take a lot more hits.
The middle ground with medium armor is not worth it, as you lose both advantages – mobility or damage reduction – and don’t really gain a fitting new benefit.
What does the skill rotation look like? Very simple.
You start the fight with Berserker, use a Wild Rush to jump to the enemy, and then use Raging Floods. Then you attack with 3 light attacks to get the buff “Empowerment.”
Now everything depends on your health:
- If you have enough health, then use Raging Floods again and light attacks until the enemy is defeated
- If you are taking a lot of damage yourself, switch to the life staff. There, use Blessed Ground (if you use CTRL+Blessed Ground, it will land exactly under you) and then Beacon, as it deals damage to the enemy and passively heals you in the future.
- Then you can use the Protection Sphere if you are still taking too much damage or switch back to the axe and start over.
Who is this build interesting for? This build is aimed at solo players who want to explore the world alone and tackle most challenges without help, and complete beginners who want to take their time getting to know the MMO.
