New World has become popular again and WoW players complain until they get something back from Blizzard. A lot has happened this week in the world of MMORPGs. Here’s the overview in our weekly review.
The highlights of the week:
- After New World launched the Fresh-Start servers, the MMORPG exceeds 100,000 simultaneous players again, which not only pleases the developers.
- EVE Online blows up a whole sun and our author Mark Sellner was there in the front row and was thrilled by the misfortune of hundreds of players.
- WoW players complain to Blizzard until they bring back the “Silver Dragon”.
The uproar of the week: Can also be found in WoW. Because there Blizzard is now giving away a mount that was previously worth $3,000, which annoys especially wealthy fans.

This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- New World launched the Fresh-Start servers on November 2, and only 18 hours later, the first player was already at max level 60.
- Lost Ark brings new pets via Twitch-Drops, which were partially designed by community manager Roxx.
- Black Desert ends its Halloween event 4 days earlier than planned. The reason is a disaster in its own country.
- The Elder Scrolls Online introduces a great feature with the new Update Firesong. You can finally pet cute animals.
- World of Warcraft changes forever when you receive your loot and shifts the weekly reset by a few hours.
This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:
- RuneScape also launched new Fresh-Start servers, but players found a way to smuggle gold onto them. The developers then permanently banned them, now they are protesting against it.
- Astellia was actually shut down after its release in 2019. Now it will be re-released as a blockchain MMO under the name Astel of Atra (via massivelyop).
- Albion Online is starting its first large-scale playtest for the new feature The Mists (via mmorpg.com).
- The post-apocalyptic MMO shooter Ashfall improves its graphics and brings new game modes (via massivelyop).
- The Lord of the Rings Online is delaying its major “Before the Shadow” update by a few days to November 15 (via massivelyop).
- Mortal Online 2 shows graphics updates and large battles for territory control in its roadmap (via massivelyop).

This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- The successful VR project Zenith: The Last City will be a launch title for PlayStation VR2 and will be available on the first day, November 15 (via mmorpg.com).
- Another VR MMORPG, Ilysia, shows mainly visual progress as it prepares for beta (via massivelyop).
- Ares: Rise of Guardians shows a new trailer and introduces a visually stunning new class (via massivelyop).
- The new survival MMO Frozen Flame starts its early access on Steam in two weeks. It relies on a concept that has even won awards.
- Bandai Namco confirmed this week that Blue Protocol is still in development and promised an announcement for next week (via mmorpg.com).

- After Epic Games shut down the MOBA Paragon and many fans mourn it, it now returns under the name Paragon The Overprime, under the supervision of Netmarble (via massivelyop).
