New World has had a problem with bots since its release. Nearly 3 months later, the gathering bots are close to reaching level 60. Many players find this frustrating and sad. They even hold sarcastic “parties” when new milestones are achieved.
What is going on with the bots? Shortly after the release, the first bots were found in New World. They usually follow the same paths to gather materials such as ores or plants. Also popular is the fishing bot, which stands in the same spot for hours, catching fish from the water.
However, more than 3 months have passed since the release, and some bots have still not been banned. One of them has been fishing 24 hours a day in the same spot on the Olympus server for weeks. He is close to reaching level 60, as user Shibe_King reveals on reddit.
He has encountered the bot multiple times in the past weeks and has taken screenshots of its level achievements. Two days ago, he reached level 55 just by fishing. His thread received over 1,800 upvotes.
Another user without a screenshot reports that there are already fishing bots on his server that have reached level 60 (via reddit).
Players fight against bots, disappointed with Amazon
How do players feel about the bots’ levels? In the thread, players react differently to this “success.” Some players report that they have reported this bot dozens of times. They are disappointed with Amazon because it has not been banned.
Others are simply sad because these bots ruin fishing and material prices to the extent that normal players cannot earn gold in-game.
Still others approach the bot situation only with sarcasm. User Donler reports that they threw a “birthday party” for a bot when it reached level 40. They are already planning the next celebration for a hemp gathering bot, which is currently at level 36 (via reddit).
Players kill or hinder bots: Since October, we have been reporting on MeinMMO about how players have found creative ways to disrupt the bots in their work:
- One player, for example, led wild boars to the bot, which then tore him apart
- A group of players simply trapped a bot in tents
- Others push bots off cliffs to force them off their farming routes
This video shows what a fight against bots can look like:
Is Amazon doing anything? Yes, because according to the developers, bots are banned regularly. At the end of November, over 7,700 accounts were banned within a few days.
But that doesn’t seem to be enough to get the complete bot issues under control.
What do you think about the bot problems in New World? Do you regularly run into the same bots or have many of them already been banned for you? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
