New World is currently enjoying something of a renaissance with Season 10. Reason enough to introduce all interested parties to various builds for beginners that are ideal for solo leveling in PvE.
What are these builds? The builds compiled here are mainly meant to help you level up to the endgame without having trouble with enemies. All combos rely on a mix of melee and ranged combat, which is particularly suitable in PvE to deal damage to enemy mobs before they can reach you.
Build with Hatchet and Bow
Why play this combo? The hatchet is one of the strongest weapons in the game and offers many survivability skills, stuns, and high damage. With the “Berserker” ability, you can easily take on multiple enemies.
We combine these strong traits with the bow, which offers high range and can be ideally used to kite enemies.
This combination is not only fun when leveling up, but also scores points in boss fights, expeditions, and even PvP. This is mainly due to the solid damage and the debuff from Rending Throw.
How do I distribute the attributes? The focus of this build is on the Dexterity attribute. This is the primary attribute for the bow and the secondary attribute for the axe. Dexterity is used because it increases your chance of landing critical hits and provides bonus damage for critical hits and headshots.
Once you have reached the maximum attributes for Dexterity, you can invest the remaining points in Constitution or Strength, depending on whether you want more survivability or more damage.
How attributes generally work is explained here: What are attributes and how do they work in New World?
Which skills do I use with the Axe?
- Berserker
- Rending Throw
- Howling Floods
In the early levels, you skill “Berserker” with the axe and then follow the Berserker line at the first levels to skill the passive effects “On the Hunt” and “Berserker Refreshment”. After that, you focus on the skill “Rending Throw” from the other skill tree and with the next level, the third attack “Howling Floods”.
Until you reach the endgame, you will then skill the rows of “Berserker”, “Howling Floods” and “Rending Throw” downwards. You also utilize the passive effects “Collected Power”, “Unforeseen Comes Often” and “Reinforcing Blows” from the Berserker tree, as well as “Critical Throw” and “Exploitation” from the Throw tree.
Which skills do I use with the Bow?
- Piercing Shot
- Arrow Rain
- Quick Shot
At the beginning, you skill as a Hunter the ability “Piercing Shot” from the Hunter tree, as well as the passive “Dodge Tactics” and the ability “Arrow Rain”. In the further course, you unlock all effects below the abilities “Piercing Shot” and “Quick Shot”.
In the Hunter tree, you mainly focus on lots of damage. Therefore, you skill “Long Shot” (more damage to distant enemies), “True Shot” (faster arrows and more damage from heavy attacks), and “Death Shot”, which causes 20 percent more damage to targets below 50 percent health.
In the Skirmisher tree, you will find versatile effects. With “Approach”, you reduce the cooldown of bow skills by hitting targets below 50 percent health, and with “Bowmen Speed”, you gain movement speed after switching to the bow. This is useful for kiting enemies.
What does the equipment look like? In the leveling process, you are of course dependent on what equipment you get dropped by enemies. However, you should ensure that they provide bonuses on Dexterity, Dexterity and Constitution, or Dexterity and Strength. Useful stats are increased critical hit chance and additional damage.
Regarding the weight of the armor, the general rule is that lighter armor is more fun, as you are generally more mobile. However, if you are having trouble surviving, you can also resort to heavier armor.
What does the skill rotation look like? Generally, you start with the bow. There, you start a heavy attack, followed by “Piercing Shot” and “Quick Shot”. After that, you usually switch to the axe, beginning with “Rending Throw”. Generally, “Howling Floods” is enough to take out the enemies.
By the way, the “Rending Throw” plays an important role in expeditions and boss fights, as it creates a debuff that also benefits teammates.
