Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is now available on Steam. There you can shoot through bloody pixel explosions and enjoy a mix of wild first-person shooter gameplay and the look of the popular retro shooter.
What is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun about? In short: shooting. If you take a look at the trailer, the retro look that reminds of a Doom from the 90s is probably the first thing that catches your eye.
Monsters explode in pixel explosions when hit, blood splatters and spreads across the ground as you take on the next wave. You move through different levels and encounter various monsters and bosses, through lava and poison, armed with different types of weapons.
Besides the graphics from the good old times, the first-person shooter seems to particularly focus on movement and speed, as you can see in the trailer:
This is what the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun promise:
- Instinctive combat experience with brutally satisfying gunplay, high mobility, and buckets of blood
- Impressive firepower and a devastating arsenal of a Space Marine to dominate the battlefield
- The ultimate homage to retro shooters, combining stylish graphics with fluid, modern first-person shooter gameplay
In Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, there are three types of weapons:
- The Grav-Cannon: The secrets of weapon crafting are known only to a few. Armored targets are literally crushed, while vehicles are left as charred, smoking wrecks.
- Boltgun: The weapon fires bolts. These explode with devastating effect once they have penetrated a target.
- Chainsword: A high-performance chainsaw, equipped with a handle, pommel, and a guard to make it easier to handle. Causes massive damage to unprotected flesh.
