In the survival MMO V Rising (PC), you play as a vampire trying to regain your power. To do this, you drain humans and animals and even build your own castle. In a first gameplay video, the development studio now shows what the upcoming game looks like.
What kind of game is this? You awaken naked and powerless in a coffin and must somehow survive and regain your old strength. The new game is developed by Stunlock Studios, who previously created Battlerite and Bloodline Champions.
The premise of V Rising is: You are to become the “next Dracula”. You play as a vampire in an isometric perspective (“viewed from above”) who gains strength by hunting at night while building your own realm.
V Rising combines action gameplay with survival elements. A first gameplay video shows how this is supposed to look.
This is what the gameplay includes: The gameplay showcases your first steps through the dark Gothic world in the style of Bloodborne, as well as the strength of vampires later in the game. Resource gathering will evidently be as important a component as combat and construction.
In the video, you can see a vampire defending against a bear-like beast with a spear, burning in the blazing sun, later raiding a village full of humans, or using magic against giant monsters. There is even a kind of boss fight:
Bosses, Building, and Magic
These are the features: Some features were already known in advance. It is known that V Rising offers the following:
- Castles as your own bases that you can expand and design as you wish
- “Full Loot” – Whoever dies loses everything and must gather it back
- Various weapon types and magic for combat
- Mounts, including mounted combat
- A day-night cycle, where it is safer for you as a vampire at night than during the day
- Blood as a resource and a means to receive special buffs
In the gameplay, several new features can be seen, such as the fight against bosses, similar to Valheim or Tribes of Midgard. However, we do not yet know how the fights will look or how many bosses there will be.
On a server, up to 50 people can play cooperatively or against each other. The gameplay shows how some vampires collaborate to raid a village and collect blood.
When and where can I play V Rising? V Rising is set to receive a beta in 2021, for which you can sign up on the website (via playvrising.com). It is still open when exactly the beta and the later release will take place.
