A new playlist update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone was released today, on the evening of May 5, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. This brings the promised changes but also a few that nobody expected. We look at the patch notes.
What’s in the update? In today’s playlist update for the multiplayer of Modern Warfare and the battle royale Warzone, there are several changes. This is revealed in an official tweet from the developers, which lists the patch notes:
- Cash Trios are replaced with Blood Money Trios
- Helicopters are disabled in battle royale
- Reinforced 3v3 Gunfight, Ground War, and “Ground War Reinfected” from last week’s update will be removed
- Shipment 24/7 as a new playlist replaces Shoot or Ship, no matter
- Gun Game becomes Gun Game Reloaded
- Demolition added
- Ground War on foot added
Additionally, new shop bundles are coming, including the “Anime Express” bundle with pink trucks in the shop. This was already hinted in the preview for the patch on May 5.
In addition to the new features, there is currently an XP bonus for double experience points on weapons, levels, and tiers in the current battle pass. The bonus will last until May 8. Last weekend, there were issues with XP.

Heli ban confuses players
This is how players react: Players are actively discussing the new update. The biggest topics are gratitude for Shipment 24/7, as the mode is always well received and extremely popular, as well as the renewed demand for a duo mode for Warzone. However, BR Duos will appear as a mode in the future.
On Twitter, however, there is great confusion about why the developers suddenly removed helicopters from the battle royale. This flying vehicle was already among the possible vehicles in Warzone since release .
Why is this ban happening? Players still do not quite understand why helicopters had to be removed from battle royale. Twitter user O’Summer-Bear clarifies that there seems to be a bug with the helicopters that allowed players to glitch under the map.
To prevent the glitch, they are likely temporarily disabled now. Other players also point out that helicopters are particularly strong in solo BR and are especially annoying.
Helicopters often allow players to stay out of reach of others and wait out the round without really making an effort. Such behavior has already caused MeinMMO author Benedict Grothaus the worst match in Warzone. Whether and when the helicopters will return, we cannot say yet.
