To win a duel in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and in CoD Warzone, you don’t necessarily need perfect aiming. It’s enough to make your opponent miss you. A new movement trick from the pros helps with that.
What is this trick? Professional player Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro has discovered a new trick that can confuse opponents in the Battle Royale Warzone and in the multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare.
With the unique movement, you drop to the ground from a sprint and jump less than a second later. It does require a bit of practice, but it works on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The trick is so new that it doesn’t even have a name yet. Some users and players have only called it “Belly Flop” so far, but whether the name will stick remains to be seen.
How do I perform it? You need to execute several movements directly in succession. The sequence is:
- sprint
- slide
- cancel the slide (“Slide Cancel”)
- immediately drop to the ground
- jump as soon as you lay down – the pro advises to “spam” the jump button
It sounds like a cheat code from early 90s games or like a complicated combo from a fighting game, but apparently it works very well. Shotzzy demonstrates the trick along with a few others in the video:
The “Slide Cancel” was supposed to be removed at the beginning of 2020, but it is still functioning. Many pros rely on it, and it has now become a trick that many players use in all modes.
“Belly Flop” helps in duels
Here’s why it’s so helpful: As Shotzzy shows in the video, his hitbox changes enormously while he is moving. Players have to follow you vertically with the crosshairs and keep readjusting, especially when aiming for the head.
At the same time, the hitbox is minimized by lying down, making it harder to hit you at all. For you, not much changes, allowing you to easily keep your crosshair on the opponent.
What can I do against it? When playing against this trick, the tips for generally better aiming will help you. For controller users, this means you need to configure the aim assist correctly and find the appropriate dead zone settings.

More tips: In multiplayer, it helps to play proactively. If you already suspect that an opponent might come around the corner, try to intercept him or find cover to let him run into your fire. Many maps provide the opportunity to monitor corners well.
In Warzone, it is helpful to move correctly. If you’re struggling against this trick, avoid cities and alleyways where you need to fight at close range and instead seek open fields. Here you have more space and can safely approach or retreat with the right movement techniques.
