In Guild Wars 2, the next episode of the Icebrood Saga will be released in November. This promises to be exciting. Because the previous enemy, the Elder Dragon Jormag, seems to be not as evil as thought. The latest trailer suggests that we might even be able to form an alliance with him.
What’s happening in Tyria? In the last episode of the Icebrood Saga in July 2020, we captured Bangar, the leader of the Icebrood. Through him, the Elder Dragon Jormag is currently communicating with the players, repeatedly giving them hints that he is not as evil as he seems.
Instead, he wants to help the players and the peoples of Tyria in general.
What happens in the trailer? Right at the beginning of the trailer, Destroyers appear all over the old world. These are the servants of another Elder Dragon: Primordus, the fire dragon.
The Asura Taimi reports on tremors that are appearing all over the world. The voice of the dragon Jormag can be heard in the background. He warns us and says that Primordus will not treat us as kindly as he does.
From the past, we already know that the Elder Dragons fight among themselves as well. So, it is quite possible that Jormag will go to war against Primordus and that we might even ally with him.
Episode promises story, repeatable missions and new weapons
What’s in the episode? The trailer already reveals what is included in this episode:
- Completely new story content
- New Dragon assistance missions
- New events in old areas of the open world
- New factions that players can ally with
- New weapon sets and a special Crystal Bloom axe skin
The Dragon assistance mission can be completed alone or with 5 players. These missions are repeatable and revolve around battles against the Dragon servants. We will know how exactly they look only with the release of the episode.
What’s unusual? It is noticeable that there is currently no mention of a new area. However, that has been part of the Living World since season 3. Many of the scenes shown in the trailer can also be assigned to old areas.
So it is quite possible that ArenaNet is breaking with a tradition here.
When will the episode be released? The new episode “The Icebrood Saga: Champions Chapter 1” will be released on November 17.
