The new loot shooter Outriders from the Bulletstorm makers “People Can Fly” and Square Enix has shown a new trailer with a release date. It confirmed the suspicions of some that it is coming later on Xbox Series X and One than originally promised.
When is the release of Outriders? As shown at the very end of the new trailer, Outriders will be released on February 02, 2021.
This shifts the new loot shooter out of its original release window. Previously, Outriders was always referred to as “Holidays 2020” – meaning a release around Christmas time. Now the release is pushed back by a good two months.
There were already rumors about a possible delay. For example, the site “Gamingbolt” reported about a corresponding change of date on Steam (which currently displays – or still – the placeholder 31.12.2020).
With the new trailer, which shows a lot of action alongside the date, February 02 is now officially set as the release date:
This explains the delay: Outriders Community Manager Toby Palm said in a post (via Square Enix):
We really intended to make OUTRIDERS available to you by Christmas 2020. COVID-19 has certainly impacted our operations over the last few months, but all teams have worked very hard to adapt to the changed circumstances.
The core of the game is finished, but testing has been affected due to restructuring: “That’s why we need a little more time to ensure that your OUTRIDERS experience at launch will be as smooth and trouble-free as possible. “
What is Outriders actually?
This is Outriders: Outriders is an RPG shooter that fully relies on PvE co-op gameplay and mixes several styles. You can take on different classes that offer a mix of classic firearms and special abilities. Together, you will face hordes of monsters in a three-person team.
An example of these classes is the Technomancer, who has just about every weapon you can imagine.
In Outriders, multiple paths lead to the goal. The game features a drop-in/drop-out multiplayer mode that allows playing with friends at any time. However, players can also choose to play alone or with strangers.
Important: Outriders is not a classic games-as-a-service; instead, it wants to be complete from the start.
Is Outriders coming for NextGen? Yes, Outriders will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Additionally, it will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is expected to come to Google Stadia later in 2021.
Players who purchase the game for PS4 and Xbox One can upgrade to the new generation for free. Additionally, it will feature full cross-play across platforms.
