Exciting tension and nerve-wracking decisions await you: On August 10, the well-known platform Steam will open the doors to a brand new zombie survival beta set in the “Walking Dead” universe. MeinMMO tells you about the innovative gameplay and explains how you have a chance to get into the closed beta.
What kind of game is this? In the past, the publisher “Skybound Games” impressed numerous fans of zombie apocalypses with titles like “The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series“. In the new release “The Walking Dead: Betrayal”, 5-8 participants are left behind in a post-apocalyptic world. The race begins without resources, forcing players to team up from the start.
Together, they must gather resources to cook life-saving food or manufacture valuable weapons to defend against the relentless zombie horde. But among them are traitors who have only one goal: to eliminate their comrades.
They can carry this out in various ways. Whether they poison the food, set traps, or make noise to lure the waiting zombie horde outside – creativity and cunning are required.
But here comes a novel feature that sets this game apart from the previously known titles like “Among Us“: If a player meets their death, it is not the end. You can watch a trailer for the game here:
Different from Among Us: No Boredom After Death
What makes The Walking Dead: Betrayal different from Among Us? Those who were killed by the traitor in Among Us could only roam around as a useless ghost and watch.
In the new Walking Dead game, however, the dead have the opportunity to teleport into a zombie and track down the traitors or warn and support their living friends. They can, for example, lure the zombies towards the traitor, leading to entirely different gameplay mechanics than what you might be used to. And that’s not all.
Communication is key to survival: Therefore, the game features a proximity chat, allowing players to communicate with others nearby. Once two players find the same color radio, they can also communicate from a distance. There is also a text chat and emotes, as is known from many other games.
How do you get into the beta? The closed beta starts on August 10. However, participation is limited.
Do you want to be part of this exciting adventure? Then you have two options to sign up: Either join the game’s Discord server and request access or register on Steam to be notified when more participants are accepted (via Steam).
Prepare for thrills and adrenaline when “The Walking Dead: Betrayal” celebrates its full release. However, there is currently no date for this – on Steam, the title is listed as “Coming Soon”.
Be ready to put your survival skills to the test and reveal the traitor, or fight as a team against the approaching zombie horde.
