With Valheim, a new survival game has entered early access on Steam. We take a look at how the title is received by players.
What is Valheim? Valheim is a co-op survival game for 2 to 10 players. You find yourself in a huge, randomly generated world where you must survive. To do this, you mine resources, craft items like weapons and armor, build ships and houses, and face the many evil creatures lurking in this world.
Valheim is based on Norse mythology. Your hero is a Viking who plunders the seas with a longship. He aims to defeat the ancient enemies of the god Odin.
PvP doesn’t play a real role in Valheim. It’s about acting cooperatively and defeating the bosses and monsters.
Players are already excited about Valheim
How is Valheim received? The early access version was released on February 2, 2021, via Steam. For €16.79 you can join in. The survival game was received extremely well right away. The peak of simultaneous active players is reportedly at 20,038 according to Steamcharts, and the 1,398 reviews so far amount to 95%.

- Grumpy Old Guy is not yet convinced (via Steam): ‘The premise is cool, but the game itself is very dull. You can’t attack while moving; the attack animation keeps you in place. This makes the fights really clumsy, especially against enemies trying to run away from you. I’m not saying the game isn’t promising, but I mean it’s not worth $20 at the moment.’
