With Cosmic Break Universal, a new MMO is on the horizon, where you fight with self-built mechs.
What is Cosmic Break Universal? The Anime MMO Cosmic Break Universal places you in a distant future, where you set out on behalf of powerful robots, the Arks, to defeat a dark power. However, only one of these robots can ultimately push back the darkness, for which it needs enough energy. The followers of the robots are now in competition to ensure that their robot gets this energy to engage in battle against the dark power.
You decide which side you want to stand on and experience the story through quests and missions as well as PvP battles in anime graphics.
PvP Battles and Story Missions
How does the game work? You can choose between three modes:
- Arena: In 30 vs 30 battles, the followers of the robots fight against each other.
- Quests: On planets, story missions await you. You basically fight your way through a dungeon and have to recover treasures and defeat AI enemies.
- Missions: Together as a team, you take on AI enemies.
For the missions, it is necessary to command your own mech. There are said to be over 100 mechs, each with different abilities. You can further customize these battle robots with 300 individual parts, which additionally grant the mechs specific skills. This way, you can build custom robots that you then use in missions and battles.
When is the game coming out? The release was actually planned for late 2020. However, Cosmic Break Universal will now be released on January 20 as an early access version on Steam.
Is it an MMORPG? Even though the developers refer to Cosmic Break Universal as an MMORPG, there are some hints that we might expect more of a PvP game with co-op missions.
In the PvP combat, 60 players fight against each other. In missions, you can participate as a duo or in a group of four.
Furthermore, the game gives more the impression of an online shooter than an MMORPG. We will know more precisely at the start of the early access phase on January 20, 2021.
