The shooter Disintegration starts today in beta and is likely to be of interest primarily to fans of Destiny and Halo, as the setting is strongly reminiscent of the classic games.
What is Disintegration? The shooter comes from developer Marcus Lehto, who worked for Bungie on Halo among other projects. Now, he and his own studio V1 Interactive are preparing to release Disintegration, which was announced at gamescom 2019.
The shooter resembles Destiny or Halo; developer Lehto has incorporated many elements from his previous games into Disintegration. However, it differs in many ways from Halo, making a look at the new game worthwhile.
Beta starts today – Here’s what you need to know
When does the beta start? Disintegration starts today, January 28th, in closed beta. Only players who have previously registered on the game’s website (via disintegrationgame) and have been selected can participate in the closed beta.
However, other players will not have to wait long. The open beta starts on January 31st, and everyone interested can participate.
What exactly does Disintegration offer? If you enjoy the setting of the Destiny or Halo world, then Disintegration will surely meet your expectations. It takes place in a sci-fi universe and offers action-packed battles in first-person mode.
However, the game is certainly not a carbon copy of Bungie’s games. It combines many elements from different games and adds its own twist.
There are vehicle battles known from Halo and also strategic elements from the Myth games.
What sets Disintegration apart is that you operate in a Gravcycle. The Gravcycle serves both as your vehicle and as the most important weapon in combat. You control a team of NPCs and fly over the heads of your fighters in your Gravcycle.
You must act tactically, as you need to coordinate your various troops, each of which has different abilities. So, be aware of your troops’ abilities and deploy them at the right time.
You primarily participate in battles from behind while sitting in your Gravcycle. Engaging in ground combat is not the focus of Disintegration.

How does the multiplayer work? There are 3 modes in multiplayer. One mode is already known.
- “Retrieval”, in this mode, you control your commander and have a small team of NPCs at your disposal. In a 5 vs. 5 matchup, you compete against each other to place a bomb in the enemy base and blow it up.
Is it an alternative to Bungie’s games? It is still too early to predict whether Disintegration will be a true alternative to Destiny and Halo.
Disintegration is currently interesting because someone with experience in Destiny and Halo has worked on it. He knows what matters in such a game.
If you love the crazy worlds of Bungie, you should definitely take a look at Disintegration. Whether the game can impress in the long term and whether the small development studio can keep its promises remains to be seen in the beta.
When is Disintegration’s release? There is no exact date yet. Disintegration is set to be released in 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox.
