Rogue Company is a new PvP shooter and has been in a closed alpha phase since July. The game has now transitioned to open beta and is free to play. But what makes the shooter interesting and for whom is it worth it?
What kind of game is this? Rogue Company is a third-person shooter that skillfully combines fast action and tactical gameplay. It features various heroes, called Rogues, each with their own skills.
The focus of the game is PvP, which can be played in various modes. The developers wanted to ensure you have a clear objective, and it’s not just about eliminating opponents. They revealed this to us in a detailed interview with MeinMMO.
Particularly praised in connection with the shooter is the mix of action-packed and tactical gameplay. Rogue Company is said to play like a mix of Overwatch and Rainbow Six Siege.
The shooter is planned as a live game and will receive new content in the future, including new game modes, new Rogues, and a Battle Pass. The Hi-Rez Studios, who were already responsible for hits such as SMITE and Paladins, are the publishers behind the shooter.
What’s new? Since October 1, Rogue Company is in open beta and can be played entirely for free. And that on all platforms. The shooter is available for PC (Epic Games), PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch and also offers crossplay between all of these.
Additionally, a new character was introduced with the beta launch, Dahlia. She is a former military officer who does not hesitate to do what must be done.
A game for fans of hero shooters and complete newcomers
What does Rogue Company offer? In the shooter, you can unlock various Rogues that place great emphasis on different play styles. Unlike in Valorant, for example, each Rogue only has access to two specific weapons.
You no longer need to unlock these weapons and skills and perks separately but have access to all content related to the hero as soon as you unlock him.
Additionally, the shooter offers various game modes, which will not be permanently available in the game but will rotate:
- Extraction (4 vs 4): As attackers, hack the objective or prevent your opponents from doing so as defenders. Once the objective is hacked or all players of a team are defeated, the round ends.
- Strikeout (4 vs 4): Like Extraction, but each team has a certain number of tickets to respawn fallen agents. Strikeout combines Extraction with a kind of deathmatch.
- Demolition (4 vs 4): Classic bomb mode. One team must plant a bomb within a set time, while the other team must prevent it.
- Wingman (2 vs 2): A classic deathmatch with 2 players per team.
Who is Rogue Company interesting for? The shooter is considered beginner-friendly because the time to kill is relatively high, especially compared to competitive games like CS:GO or Valorant. So even if you make mistakes and get hit, you won’t die immediately.
Since each hero only has access to their specific weapons, you do not need to know and try all weapons at the start but can gradually familiarize yourself. The game modes are also relatively simple and self-explanatory.
So, if you are looking for a new shooter that you can easily get into and have a lot of fun with, you should take a closer look at Rogue Company. Another highlight is the various heroes, each with their own personality and story.
