The new open-world RPG Where Winds Meet is a massive success in China. Soon the release in the West will be on Steam and PS5, and a new trailer shows what to expect.
What kind of game is this? Where Winds Meet is still a bit unknown in the West, but most players in China are familiar with the open-world RPG. It is a massive hit and has already convinced 15 million players through countless content (via Gamerant). At the same time, the RPG is free-to-play and is only monetized through nice skins and a battle pass.
In the game itself, there are so many contents that it is hard to list them all. The main content, however, is a lively story in medieval China, where the player becomes a master of martial arts throughout its course. There are also tough bosses in the open world, as well as many puzzles and places to explore.
Even during the story, Where Winds Meet presents an extensive sandbox filled with many side activities, unlocks, new martial arts, and also quirky encounters. The new trailer already shows how to transform your character into a chubby Shiba Inu and play Mahjong against other dogs.

New trailer marks the launch in the West
When is the game coming to us? Where Winds Meet launches on November 14, 2025, on Steam, Epic Games Store, and PS5 here in the West. The launch phase is kicked off by the trailer shown above, which reached over 100,000 viewers in 24 hours on the YouTube channel of IGN.
Previously, Western players were able to try the RPG in a beta version in July 2025 and were probably just as impressed as MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski, even though she was sure that there was still a red thread to work on.
In the comments under the trailer on YouTube, it is evident that others took the chance as well and were thrilled by the beta. User @twiggyremirez explains: “The beta version was fantastic, and soon the game will be fully released. This game makes me want to live longer.”
YouTube user @PrinceSwerve already knows the game and writes: “[The trailer] doesn’t even show a third of the total content of this game; that’s how extensive it is.”
How does the multiplayer work? Where Winds Meet relies on a system for multiplayer that is probably best known in the West from Path of Exile. In player hubs like cities, you meet other players and can team up with them for dungeons, raids, world bosses, guild activities, as well as PvP modes like arena battles and guild wars.
Where Winds Meet can be played in co-op with up to 4 players. So you can support your friends in boss fights, but also master the challenges alone. However, players should not expect a true MMORPG here; the focus is on the vibrant story and missions.
With the new trailer, Where Winds Meet enters its release phase and will be playable in the West in about a month. Whether this open-world RPG will achieve a big release in the West remains to be seen.
