In Destiny 2, the calendar for Season 9 is now known. Here’s what to expect starting December 10 in the Season of Dawn.
What’s coming in Destiny 2: It has been almost three months since the launch of Shadowkeep. The current Season 8 is coming to an end, and Guardians are wondering: What’s next on the agenda?
The answer is: The Season of Dawn. On December 10, which is next week at the reset, new content will be released. Season 9 is expected to provide incentives for playing Destiny 2 until spring 2020.
The content was just presented (12.04.19) in the official reveal stream by Bungie.
The Schedule for December
Thus, Season 9 starts in December: The Season of Dawn takes you back to Mercury. It has been revamped. Finally, you can unpack your Sparrow there.
At the start of the season, all “Destiny 2” players will have access to this content:
- There will be a overhaul of outdated Solar subclasses.
- The new seasonal artifact ‘The Lantern of Osiris’. We still don’t know much about the supporting item. However, it was shown in the stream that there are again unique artifact mods. This season, for example, scout rifles will be supported.
- The PvP mode Elimination is coming as its own playlist in Destiny 2. Many see this as a test run for the painfully missed Trials.
- On Mars and in the Tangled Shore, a mysterious ‘Obelisk’ will be opened. Bungie wants us to revisit older locations and take on new challenges.
- The popular Destiny 1 PvP map Rusted Lands will make a comeback in a revamped form.

Here’s what’s available for Season Pass holders at launch: The new PvE mode ‘Sundial’ invites players to explore. This is an activity for up to six players. Sundial will feature an automatic player search. Other seasonal activities like the Vex Offensive or the Menagerie also operated this way.
Players can expect not only a ton of Cabal, but also many different mechanics and powerful bosses. The bosses in Sundial are said to rotate and there will be something new to discover weekly. The first boss will be named ‘Niruul’.
Your first experience with the Sundial will surely not be like the last one.

Later, the activity will be expanded with a hard mode. However, this will not include a player search. You will need a pre-made fireteam.
What else is coming in December: Bungie wants to warm you up for Destiny 2 all through the cold December with the following content:
- Just a week after the launch of the Season of Dawn (17.12.19), ‘Obelisks’ will await players on Nessus and in the EDZ.
- In addition, a new boss in the Sundial will challenge you: Ozletec.
- The rescue of Saint-14 is also on the agenda for December 17 (only for Season Pass holders)
- From December 17 to January 14, 2020, you can celebrate Christmas in Destiny 2. During this period, the annual event ‘Dawning’ will take place.
- On December 24, right in time for Christmas, the first Iron Banner of Season 9 will start.
- On Christmas Eve, a new boss in the Sundial awaits a beating. The Psion Tazaroc will show up (for Season Pass holders).
Things to do in the New Year
In January 2020, here’s what you can expect: The new year brings the following content in the Season of Dawn for Season Pass holders:
- On January 7, the hard mode of the seasonal activity Sundial goes live.
- The exotic quest for the Hand Cannon ‘Devils Ruin’ will also start on January 7.
On January 28, the hunt for another Exotic begins. From now on, you can pursue the Exotic quest for Bastion. We speculated about this and other exotic weapons here:
What February Looks Like in Destiny 2
What awaits you in February: It’s still a while until February, but Bungie has already announced the following activities and content for the month:
- From February 4, all “Destiny 2” players can look forward to the activity ‘Empyrean Foundation’. Currently, there are no further details available.
- Season Pass holders will take on the new Cabal boss Inotam in the Sundial.
- From February 11 to February 18, the ‘Crimson Days‘ event will take place. This event brings you closer to your Guardian friends every year. It’s basically the Valentine’s Day version of Destiny 2.
The image captured in the roadmap makes the hearts of SRL fans race. You can clearly see two Guardians on their Sparrows. Is the Sparrow Racing League making a comeback in the Crimson Days?
