- After the server merges at Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen last week, there is now the new Fresh Start server “Veil of Azeris” along with various bug fixes and improvements via an update. You can find the official patch notes on pantheonmmo.com.

What happened among the big MMORPGs:
- For WoW Patch 11.1.5, the official patch notes are now available.
- Blizzard continues to refine the balance in World of Warcraft and released several buffs for many classes on April 16. However, some particularly popular specializations are being targeted.
- Recently, Blizzard officials updated the support page for gold trading in World of Warcraft and defined new restrictions. This initially caused confusion among players.
- When will the “Dinare” from WoW: The War Within arrive? Blizzard has finally addressed the Puzzling Cartel Chips from Patch 11.1.5.
- A WoW player finds 6 unopened Collector’s Editions in the attic after 17 years – and EverQuest is said to be the reason.
- What is better than playing WoW alone? Of course: Playing World of Warcraft with someone you love. It’s just unfortunate if you’ve been waiting for years, only for Blizzard to suddenly interfere.
- Phase 4 of WoW Classic Anniversary begins in the week of May 1. Included: Raid “Zul’Gurub,” Dragons of Nightmare, Fishing Competition in Stranglethorn Vale, The Awakening of the Silithid, and the class armor sets of level 0.5 (Dungeon set 2) – via worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com.
- Starting April 22, 2025, you can secure Bienatix as a pet for WoW via Twitch Drop. You can find the details on worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com.
- When one of the most popular MMORPGs of all time suddenly receives deep red negative ratings on Steam, the disappointment among fans must be profound. Exactly that has happened to Final Fantasy XIV with Dawntrail. But after 8 months, there is finally light at the end of the tunnel.
- At its peak, Lost Ark was among the Top 3 on Steam regarding the most concurrent players. Since then, nearly the entire community has been lost. Now the developers explain how they want to finally reverse the negative trend.
- On April 14, 2025, there was an update for New World, with the start of the Easter event, a new Amazon Games ID, and fixes. You can find the official patch notes on newworld.com. Via X, the developer also announced further server merges for May.
- Black Desert has released a short teaser for upcoming content on YouTube.
- In Guild Wars 2, the Super Adventure Festival has started. All information can be found on guildwars2.com. Here is the trailer for the event:
What happened among the smaller MMORPGs:
- On April 28, 2025, Guild Wars will celebrate its 20th birthday. The celebrations, however, start right now. With a new collection, the biggest discount in the history of the game, and a … hold on … content update.
- In March 2025, the studio “Happy Cauldron Games” acquired the MMORPG Fractured Online. Now the new owners have spoken about their ambitious plans for the game, which is currently rated as “Balanced” on Steam.
- In EverQuest, Rathe Day is being celebrated until April 27, 2025. You can find the details at everquest.com.
- For Blade and Soul, the update “Moonwater Plains Part 2” went live on April 15, 2025. You can find an overview of the new features at bladeandsoul.com.
- On May 6, 2025, a new content update called Red Harvest is expected to be released for Neverwinter. You can find the details at playneverwinter.com.
- The developers of Mortal Online 2 have introduced the new Invasions feature at mortalonline2.com.
- Official Classic servers have been announced for the MMORPG oldie MapleStory, via YouTube.
- On April 18, 2025, Defiance made its return! Fans owe this to the people at Fawkes Games, who secured the rights to the MMORPG shooter. Just before the comeback, many players celebrated the freshly released gameplay trailer.
What happened among the MMORPGs in development:
- Originally, Throne and Liberty was supposed to be the new Lineage. That did not happen. Now NCsoft seems to be starting again work on a next-gen MMORPG for the Lineage IP.
- Two years ago, a developer quit his job to pursue his dream of creating his own MMORPG, and now he is showing the first gameplay from his project Dark Continent in the trailer.
- The MMORPG Camelot Unchained has disappeared from the scene for over a year now. Recently, rumors surfaced that half of the developers had been laid off. Soon there should finally be an update on the status quo.
- Erenshor has launched in Early Access on Steam. You can expect not a proper MMORPG, but a single-player RPG, that aims to replicate the MMORPG experience through simulated NPCs – only without players.
- The developers of Ashes of Creation are adapting their alpha plan; Alpha 2 will run until August 4, 2025.
With that, we have summarized the most important things that have recently happened in the world of MMORPGs.
