MeinMMO gives you an overview of all new online games coming out in 2023 that are relevant to us. This includes co-op games, MMOs, and MMORPGs. It does not matter whether these games are being released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or Switch.
Which games do you find on the list? Only games are listed from developers who have announced the release for 2023. We have also included major expansions that are particularly relevant for MMORPGs.
We last updated the article on October 17th and we removed Super People, which was discontinued.

A good mix of MMORPGs and shooters, but a weak year for survival
Fans of MMORPGs could look forward to 6 different games in 2023, but there was a lack of a truly big highlight. However, there were two new and successful expansions with Necrom for ESO and Secrets of the Obscure for Guild Wars 2.
For this year, only the releases of Fractured (Iso-MMORPG in Early Access) and Odin: Valhalla Rising are still expected.
The long-awaited Throne and Liberty has been postponed to 2024, as has Blue Protocol.
It will also be varied for shooter players. With The Day Before comes a game that strongly resembles Division 2 and wants to impress with its graphics.
Additionally, Super People and Star Wars: Hunters bring two arena shooters that completely differ not only in gameplay but also in platforms. The latter, for example, is only being released for Switch and Mobile.
Lastly, there are two titles, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant and The Division: Heartland, which were also already announced for 2022, but have become rather quiet in recent times.
For survival players, however, the outlook is somewhat bleak. Aside from Nightingale, the focus this year is mainly on The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria and Sons of the Forest, both of which can also be played solo.
The two big highlights of the year for many gamers were probably Diablo 4 and Baldur’s Gate 3.
These MMORPGs will definitely not be released in 2023
- Ashes of Creation is among the most anticipated MMORPGs, but it is still too unfinished and there are still some alpha and beta tests pending. Here we will have to be patient: What is the status of Ashes of Creation, the new MMORPG hope from the West in 2022?
- The LoL MMORPG is also highly anticipated. But it currently does not even have a name. A release before 2025 is unlikely. We have gathered all the information about the LoL MMORPG here.
- The Horizon MMORPG was only freshly announced at the end of 2022. A release next year is therefore excluded.
- The new Zenimax MMORPG, which is supposed to serve a completely new franchise. However, it does not yet have a name and there is also no gameplay. This makes a release in 2023 impossible.
- Camelot Unchained has been in development for almost 10 years, but even in 2023, no release is in sight.
