Producer Ahn Jong-ok and Manager Lee Moon-seop revealed new details about the upcoming MMORPG Throne and Liberty in an interview. They talked among other things about the PvP events and the global release. But especially the new information about the in-game shop is likely to interest many players.
How is the in-game shop structured? In an interview with the Korean website Inven, the developers provided information. The shop is expected to primarily offer cosmetic items such as pets or additional skins for the mounts. The development team does not plan to integrate items into the shop that provide advantages over other players.
The items will not provide a bonus to specific stats and are not even necessary to complete the collection of pets and transformations. The rewards from the game and events are sufficient.
The ratio of how the pets and skins can be obtained is supposed to be as follows:
- 80% can probably be obtained from the game
- 5% should be obtained from events
- 15% should be available in the in-game shop
However, the ratio is only supposed to apply at the game’s release. To what extent the ratio will differ after several months, the two responsible persons did not provide any information.

The status of PvP events and the global release
What about PvP? During the interview, the topic of PvP came up. NCsoft would try to create a balance between PvP and PvE. Other games have failed to create a balanced mix.
To ensure this, PvP and PvE events are not supposed to overlap. PvP events should also not take place in PvE hunting grounds. After all, the PvE part has a lot to offer: At launch, there should be 6 dungeons and 18 world bosses.
It is up to the players whether they want to participate in PvP at all. Through PvE, the maximum level can be reached and the equipment adjusted. PvP would be aimed at players who want to approach it more efficiently.
What about the launch? The release of the game has already been postponed several times, but on December 7, 2023, it will be released at least in Korea: On that day, Throne and Liberty is supposed to appear.
Things still look grim for the global release: NCsoft did not elaborate on when in 2024 the MMORPG is supposed to be released in the West. However, the two mentioned in the interview that the interests of Western players will be integrated just as much as the interests of Korean players.
The Western version is supposed to be “basically the same game” as the Korean version. Whether there will be differences and what they will be remains to be seen.
