The upcoming MMORPG Tarisland reminded many MMORPG fans of World of Warcraft. Now the developers say they want to offer a “completely new gaming experience.”
What kind of game is this? Tarisland (PC, Mobile) is a new MMORPG that was unveiled by gaming giant Tencent in January 2023 and is set in a western fantasy setting.
Visually, Tarisland with its colorful and comic-style design reminds many MMORPG fans of World of Warcraft. This is also reflected in the classes of the title. There are warriors, paladins, mages, hunters, priests, and a class with two glaives reminiscent of demon hunters. Only the bard is a bit of a special case.
Additionally, Tarisland features an open game world and offers various mounts. There are also dragons that you can ride on. Furthermore, there is PvE in dungeons and 10-player raids, as well as PvP in special arenas and battlegrounds. Selected players already got a first impression during beta tests in June.

What do the developers say? In an interview with the online magazine vg247, the producer of Tarisland has now said that the game wants to be a new IP and provide a new gaming experience.

Furthermore, the timing of the announcement trailer had nothing to do with WoW no longer being playable in China after Blizzard’s partnership with NetEase ended, says Tarisland Producer Yangmin. The date had already been set in advance.
Companies like Blizzard, which come from abroad, need a Chinese partner to be able to distribute games in China. The end of Blizzard’s partnership with NetEase is accordingly advantageous for Tarisland.
