The MMORPG Fractured was a complete success on Kickstarter and has been in development for several years. The next alpha test phase has now been announced, starting on September 22. MeiNMMO reveals what Fractured actually is and what to expect.
What is Fractured? It is a sandbox MMORPG that takes place in three different worlds. Each of these worlds is home to its own race:
- Beastmen
- Humans
- Demons
You can choose one of these races and thus decide whether you want to focus solely on PvE (Beastmen), experience PvE with controlled PvP (Humans), or go fully into PvP (Demons).
In these worlds, you determine how you play and develop your character. You participate in building cities and can then take part in battles and sieges in the PvP worlds. Or you can become a craftsman or adventurer. The MMORPG resembles the classic Ultima Online.

Alpha test starts in 3 days – Who can participate?
When exactly does it start? The alpha test begins on September 22 at 4 PM and runs until October 13. During this time, participants can try numerous contents of Fractured.
These are the new features:
- Over 40 new skills
- Dynamically changing world events
- New interesting locations
- Over 20 new monsters
- Treasure chests and lockpicking
- A revision of equipment and player attributes
- Significant improvements to the marketplace
- A new message box
However, there will be more new features included in the Alpha. The Alpha is not subject to an NDA, so players are allowed to record and stream as much as they want.
Who can participate in the Alpha? The Alpha is only available to buyers of certain founder packages.
- You need at least the Master Pack of Fractured (via Fractured Store).
- The Master Pack currently costs €44.99 and includes the full game, access to the alpha tests, and other goodies.
- Later, beta tests will follow, for which you only need the standard pack for €24.99.
If you have such a pack, you don’t need to do anything else. On September 22, you will have access to the servers; no key or anything similar is necessary. If you meet the requirements, you can download the Alpha via the website (fractured.com).
The Alpha is, however, time-limited. It runs until October 13.
Can progress be retained? No. After the end of the Alpha, the servers will be shut down and progress will be deleted.
When is the game supposed to be finished? So far, there is no official release date. Fractured is expected to be released later this year (as of September 19) (via steampowered.com).
So far, it cannot be pre-ordered on Steam; it can only be added to the wishlist. Whether the release will occur this year remains to be seen. There has not yet been an announcement for the beta.
