A new MMORPG is in the works with Gran Saga (PC, Mobile). The anime style is meant not only to delight players but also to bring joy to viewers. The developers have a budget of 25 million dollars.
What is Gran Saga? The MMORPG currently being developed with Unreal Engine 4 relies on anime graphics much like the recently released co-op RPG Genshin Impact. Together with friends, you will explore a vast world, where the journeys offer a unique experience. The game world is not uniform but divided into zones.
Between these areas, you travel from an isometric perspective on a 3D world map. Once you reach a new zone, Gran Saga switches back to third-person view.
In the large areas, many adventures await you. You take on quests, fight monsters in action-packed battles, talk to NPCs, and explore the zones on foot or with a horse.
An Anime to Watch and Play Along
What else is special? Gran Saga uses the so-called Gran-Weapons system. In the game, there will be particularly powerful weapons that significantly affect your playstyle. You decide whether to set out with a warhammer, a staff, claws, or other weapons. Depending on the weapon chosen, Gran Saga should feel different.
The system is designed to allow you to expand and enhance your hero in an additional and interesting way.
Moreover, the developers at Npixel Studio place great importance on telling an exciting story. Important characters have voice acting, and you will see special events through cutscenes.
What else do the developers want to achieve? The team behind Gran Saga wants the MMORPG to be successful on Twitch and YouTube. Special emphasis is placed on ensuring that not only the players have fun, but also the viewers.
Gran Saga should feel like watching an anime while watching it. Therefore, the team is working particularly hard on the graphics. A budget of 25 million dollars is available for this. When you watch the MMORPG’s trailer, you can already see that it looks like an anime – and this trailer was recorded from the mobile version of the game.
What is the current status of the game? Gran Saga is currently in a Closed Beta in South Korea. There is no release date yet.
However, the MMORPG is set to be released internationally, including in our regions as well. When that will happen, we do not currently know.
