In Pokémon GO the popular GO Fest is taking place again this year. New content has now been announced that will make the event even better. We at MeinMMO will show you what that is.
What event is this about? On August 26 and 27, 2023, the big GO Fest 2023 is taking place in Pokémon GO. At this global event, you can look forward to plenty of wild spawns, strong raid bosses, and cool bonuses.
After the first information about the habitats and spawns was recently announced, Niantic has now provided additional updates.
- So you can look forward to really strong raids, a long-awaited Pokémon, and new event attacks.
What exactly to expect is summarized below.
All raid bosses overview for the GO Fest
This year’s raid battles will be interesting for most players in multiple ways, as they offer a good mix of strong attackers and cool, often long-awaited costume Pokémon. Especially shiny hunters will get their money’s worth.
On Sunday, Mega-Rayquaza will also make its debut in the game. Trainers have been waiting for this for months.
In the following overview, we show you all the raid bosses from both days and which ones you can catch as Shiny (*) with a bit of luck:
| Raids | Raid Bosses |
| Level-1 Raids (Saturday and Sunday) | Pikachu with Quartz Crown* Pikachu with Pyrite Crown* Pikachu with Malachite Crown* Pikachu with Aquamarine Crown* Viscora* |
| Level-2 Raids (Saturday and Sunday) | Rocara |
| Level-3 Raids (Saturday and Sunday) | Snorlax with Cowboy Hat* |
| Proto Raids (Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 11 AM) | Proto-Kyogre* Proto-Groudon* |
| Mega Raids (Sunday only) | Mega-Rayquaza* |
You have to keep this in mind: As Niantic further informs, the costumed Pikachu will alternate on the first day of the event according to their habitats in the game. Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon will only be available in raids on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
If you want to secure a strong specimen or are looking to collect Proto energy, you should plan for this already on Saturday.
Why are the raids so strong?
Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon: Especially these two proto Pokémon will be very popular among trainers during the GO Fest. This is mainly because Proto-Kyogre and Proto-Groudon are among the strongest attackers of their type. The GO Fest thus offers you the opportunity to collect a lot of Proto energy and catch a strong specimen. With a bit of luck, even as Shiny.
Mega-Rayquaza: And Mega-Rayquaza is also one of the highlights of the event, as players have been waiting for the monster’s debut for months. During the global GO Fest, Mega-Rayquaza will thus be available in the game for the first time worldwide. Those who have a ticket to one of the live events can secure it there already.
- It has an enormous attack value, which, with a suitable moveset, will make it one of the best dragon and flying attackers in the game.
- And you should take the opportunity to secure a strong specimen and a lot of Mega energy.
Whether it will remain in the Mega Raids afterwards or will disappear again is still unclear at this time.
What you should still know about Mega-Rayquaza and what it has to do with a new evolution item, we will show you in the following article:
Snorlax with Cowboy Hat: Last year, trainers who participated in the live events for the GO Fest were able to encounter Snorlax with a cowboy hat. The disappointment was all the greater when it was not available during the global finale event .
Now every player finally has the opportunity to secure the costumed Pokémon, which is why the raids are sure to be well attended. Especially shiny hunters could take their chance here. Snorlax is also suitable as a strong gym defender.
Exclusive event attacks for 8 monsters
In addition to the strong raids, 8 monsters can also look forward to exclusive event attacks again. In this case, Roserade can even benefit from a fast and charged attack.
How to get the attack? To secure the attacks, you must evolve the respective monsters during the event accordingly and they will automatically be assigned these. Alternatively, you can also teach them these attacks later with the help of a charged TM.
What attacks are available? The following monsters can learn such an exclusive event attack when evolving:
- Metapod to Butterfree: Bug Bite (fast attack)
- Sandshrew to Sandslash: Night Slash (charged attack)
- Clefairy to Clefable: Pound (fast attack)
- Trapinch to Flygon: Earth Power (charged attack)
- Shuppet to Banette: Hex (charged attack)
- Metang to Metagross: Meteor Mash (charged attack)
- Roselia to Roserade: Bullet Seed (fast attack) and Weather Ball (charged attack)
- Swablu to Altaria: Body Slam (charged attack)
