A new survival game throws you right into a zombie outbreak in a city in Texas. The demo on Steam has already made a very good impression on many players.
We’re talking about Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days: The survival game from developer PikPok will be released on April 10, 2025, on Steam. According to the developers, it is expected to stay in early access for at least a year before the full release.

What kind of game is this? Into the Dead is a 2.5D sidescroller. You move sideways on the screen and not in a three-dimensional space. You lead a group of people from Walton City – a Texan metropolis in the 1980s that became the site of a zombie apocalypse.
Your goal is to withstand the hordes of zombies and ensure the survival of your group. To do this, you move from one hideout to the next and reinforce them with barricades to keep the undead hordes at bay.
The members of your group need to eat and rest. You should also keep an eye on the mental state of your companions: If despair spreads among them, it can have serious consequences.
Zombie apocalypse in Texas is already well received
The demo for the game is already very well received: Of nearly 2,000 reviews on Steam, 93% are positive.
- ShortnSweetD is pleasantly surprised: “I have to say, it wasn’t what I originally expected, but it was a nice surprise. It reminds me a bit of This War of Mine, but I was a bit more into the gameplay here. I was actually disappointed when I realized I had reached the end of the demo.” (via Steam)
