In Diablo 4, one event chases another – and soon the “March of the Goblins” is returning. Here you have the chance to defeat treasure goblins and grab their fat loot. And the new goblin variants will even remain permanently in the game.
What kind of event is this? In the “March of the Goblins” event, treasure goblins wreak havoc in Sanctuary – and they drop valuable loot bags when you defeat them. The event runs from March 4, 2025, at 7:00 PM to March 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM. You can find the goblins in the open world, at Shrines of Greed, and at the world boss Knorzer.
Additionally, this time there are new goblin variants. They spawn less frequently than the normal treasure goblins and can drop really strong loot – including the coveted Mythic Uniques.
What kind of treasure goblins are those? The new variants of treasure goblins appear less frequently in Sanctuary, but they drop really strong loot. According to Blizzard, the following new variants are supposed to exist during the “March of the Goblins” event:
- Ector the Abominable (green): Drops various crafting materials and grants you Obolust when you defeat him at a torment level.
- Golden Baron (yellow): Drops plenty of gold.
- Glittering Prym (light blue): Drops gemstone fragments, runes, and on torment levels, Under City tributes and scattered prisms.
- Murl the Curious (purple): Drops an Obolust bag that remains in your inventory if you have reached the maximum of obolusts.
- Syrus of Jelly (blue): Splits into two goblins upon death, which in turn dissolve into three. If you kill the smallest goblins, they drop Legendaries, gold, boss mats, and possibly elixirs.
- Fedric the Shimmering Old (purple-pink): Spawns very rarely. Drops a Mythic Unique and a “Magnificent Spark” for crafting Mythics.
Some of the new treasure goblins resemble the goblins from Diablo 3 – for example, the Golden Baron, who also dropped gold in the predecessor. The Glittering Prym also had its counterpart in Diablo 3 with the Gem Goblin. However, there doesn’t seem to be a Menagerist Goblin that drops pets in this game.
Blizzard points out that the new goblin variants will remain in all realms of Diablo 4 even after the event – but with a lower spawn rate. Defeating the treasure goblins will also earn you prestige during the event. The higher your prestige, the higher your chance of valuable loot.
