In an interview with Blizzard, the future of World of Warcraft Classic was discussed. Even “new content” is on the agenda.
The beta of World of Warcraft Classic has started and is exciting players around the world. It even led to WoW temporarily reaching the highest viewer numbers on Twitch. The hype around Classic is great and many developer interviews fuel the ideas further. In an interview with Den of Geek, it was even discussed whether new content is planned for WoW: Classic.
What was said? In the interview, Brian Birmingham and Patrick Dawson from Blizzard talked about Classic. In response to the interviewer’s remark that some fans are discussing whether Blizzard would create new content for level 60 if the game was a big success, the following answer was given:
“Everything is possible. This is a love letter to our fans. If the fans have a desire for something like this, it would definitely be considered. We are not currently planning it, but if people want more, then we can talk about it. We will discuss it when the time comes.”
Contradictory statements from Blizzard: However, the comment from Ion Hazzikostas, who said a while ago that there would be no new content for Classic and that “Classic is just Classic”, contradicts this statement.
Community is skeptical to dismissive: On social media like Reddit, the reaction of players is rather restrained. Many believe that it would contradict the concept of Classic to create “new content” for an old game. The predominant sentiment seems to be that they do not want Classic to be further developed and provided with more content.
Fortunately, according to the developers, such a decision is to depend on the wishes of the players.
Would you like to see new content in the old style of World of Warcraft Classic? Or would that ruin the appeal of Classic?
