A new action game on Steam has over 45,000 concurrent players just days after release. The first reviews are also full of praise.
What game is this about? It is Shape of Dreams, a new action game. This combines the roguelite genre with MOBA influences: Hades meets League of Legends, one could say. The whole thing is being developed by the Korean studio Lizard Smoothie.
Shape of Dreams takes place in a dream world, where you hack your way through dangerous monsters. You can do this either solo or in co-op with up to 4 players. You choose one of 8 heroes, each offering their own combat style and a variety of builds.
The action game presented a prologue in November 2024 and was already well received by players back then. The full game was released on September 11, 2025 on Steam.

Players on Steam can’t get enough
How is the game currently being received? Apart from major titles like Borderlands 4, Shape of Dreams is celebrating one of the currently best releases on Steam:
- The game had over 23,000 concurrent players on Steam on its first day (according to steamdb.info)
- By September 14, Shape of Dreams increased and reached its current peak of over 45,000 concurrent players
- Of 3,530 reviews (as of September 16, 14:18), 81% are positive. The game thus receives an overall rating of “very positive” on Steam
The reviews praise, among other things, the great variety of options without overwhelming newcomers to the genre. “A well-rounded game that surprises, challenges, and remains accessible at the same time. A clear recommendation from me!”, writes a player in their Steam review.
Another Steam review says: “Shape of Dreams is so awesome that after a few hours of grinding you no longer know if you are still playing or already hypnotized. […] With friends, it gets completely wild.”
“9 hours sunken into it immediately after purchase. Gameplay is really fun, it’s challenging and the meta-progression is also great! […] 10/10!”, states another review on Steam.
Those who want to try Shape of Dreams before buying can still download a demo of the game on Steam. Until September 24, the game is also available with a 20% discount. So it costs only 19.60 € instead of the usual 24.50 €.
Through Shape of Dreams, some players may have developed a taste for MOBA mechanics, who otherwise have nothing to do with the genre.
