Her ability to fly allows Mercy to keep an overview of the combat situation. She can intervene more quickly when she sees an ally in danger or help during an (opposing) offensive.

Even if she is out of range of an ally and has to move towards them, she can deal serious damage with the stronger pistol along the way. Valkyrie thus has significantly more versatility than the old Resurrection and should be used more frequently.
The timing of the ultimate is less critical due to the rework. You no longer have to weigh whether it is worth reviving one or two people. Instead, Mercy can now participate directly in the combat, support, and even become a threat to the enemies.
Similar to other support ultimates, Valkyrie can thus be used both to support an offensive and to reinforce the defense.
In Summary: Tips for Playing Mercy
- Use Resurrection on important targets (tanks, strong DPS heroes, second healer).
- Weigh whether Resurrection is worth the risk.
- Heal actively and amplify damage to help the team and charge the ultimate.
- Use Valkyrie in emergencies or to act together with the team.
- Always use Resurrection before Valkyrie to immediately complete the cooldown.
- Play aggressively!
“I Roxxor” – D.Va

Things get a bit easier with D.Va. The changes haven’t caused her to have a completely new playstyle. Instead, she behaves more like she was originally played and planned: like a “flank tank”.
The changes:
Micro Missiles (new ability ‘E’)
- Fires a salvo of small missiles that deal moderate damage in a small area.

Defense Matrix
- Discharges twice as fast.
- Now charges at 12.5% instead of 10% per second.
Micro Missiles and Fusion Cannons can be used during “Boosters”.
In particular, the changes to the Matrix take away D.Va’s ability to simply stand with the team and eat every incoming projectile. While she can still absorb heavy blows if timed correctly, she can no longer completely negate ultimates. However, the recharge time is now only 8 instead of 10 seconds.
More important for the “new” old playstyle are the ability to attack while boosting and the new Micro Missiles. These enable the Korean to effectively take out weaker targets (“squishies”) again.
Similar to Winston, she can now (again) charge into the enemies, eliminate targets, and disappear – or open the attack from the flank. She gets back the old “Bully D.Va” playstyle she had before her role as a defensive “bullet sponge”.
In Summary: Tips for D.Va
- Use Defense Matrix thoughtfully. A barrage or tactical visor can no longer be completely negated, but you can still protect allies against it.
- Micro Missiles are effective at longer ranges as well. They close the gap in range between Boosters and Fusion Cannons.
- Don’t forget: Attack while boosting! A left click no longer breaks the ability, you can deal damage while flying!
- Play aggressively! D.Va has regained the ability to quickly and effectively take out low-health targets. Use it!
- Flank instead of playing as a bulwark.

With the changes from the last patch in Overwatch , not only have some heroes become stronger. Two rather popular ladies have been completely changed. We want to help you understand the changes and play the heroes Mercy and D.VA better in Overwatch after 1.15/2.19.
Buffs and adjustments to heroes are constantly happening. They generally mean that the characters become a little stronger or weaker, but their playstyle does not fundamentally change. Reworks, however, intervene exactly in this playstyle and require a rethink.
Such reworks have been given to the healer Mercy and the tank D.VA in the last patch – Mercy was redesigned more thoroughly than D.VA.
“Someone always interrupts me at work.” – Mercy
The lovely Swiss has always been played relatively passively. There were rarely games with “Battle-Mercy”, where she fought at the front armed with a pistol. Normally, you would just charge her ultimate, hide in a corner, and wait to revive the team.

That is no longer possible, as the ultimate has been completely reworked. A brief overview of her most important changes:
Resurrection:
- Now has a range of 5 meters.
- Only affects one player.
- 30 seconds cooldown.
- Mercy is no longer invulnerable while casting.

Valkyrie (new ultimate)
- Lasts for 20 seconds.
- The cooldown on Resurrection is immediately completed, then reduced to 10 seconds for the duration of the ultimate.
- The range of healing and damage beams is increased.
- All heroes around the target of the beam are also affected by the effect.
- The pistol has faster projectiles and unlimited ammunition.
- Mercy can fly during the duration.
- Guardian Angel is faster and has a greater range.
- Regeneration is not interrupted by damage.
These changes turn the passive Mercy, who was played with hiding tactics, into an active healer in the entire combat scenario. Her playstyle will become more aggressive and reward good awareness.
In Detail
Mercy’s Resurrection has become significantly stronger due to the adjustment – even though it can now only affect one target and at short range. Especially in defense, the ability means that opponents cannot immediately go on the offensive despite taking out an ally.
It negates strong attacks from snipers and flankers. As a Mercy player (as well as an ally), you should also be careful not to push too far forward. If you die too deep in enemy lines, it becomes impossible for the healer to safely revive. Here, it is important to weigh risk and benefit.
Support from Above: Valkyrie
What highlights her aggressive playstyle even more is the ultimate Valkyrie. Through it, Mercy becomes a guardian angel for a short time, overseeing the battlefield from above – similar to the Nordic Valkyrie.
