The popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender is soon getting a live-action adaptation by Netflix. New images show what the main characters of the Fire Nation – including Zuko, Azula, and Iroh – will look like.
This is Avatar: The Last Airbender
- The American animated series aired from 2005 to 2008 on Nickelodeon.
- It follows the journey of young Aang, who, as the Avatar, can control all four elements – fire, water, earth, and air. Together with his new friends, such as waterbender Katara and her brother Sokka, he must learn to control his powers to protect the world from an invasion by the Fire Nation.
- In 2010, there was already a live-action film titled “The Last Airbender,” which, however, did not receive a good response.
- With “The Legend of Korra,” the franchise received a spin-off series in 2012.

What do we already know about the Netflix adaptation? After a delay of the originally planned release date, the series is now set to premiere in 2024. The project has been in planning at Netflix since 2018.
The exact plot details are still unknown. However, it is assumed that the content from the animated series will be adapted.
So far, there have been a few images of the main characters and a short trailer released.
Here’s what the new look of the Fire Nation looks like
Netflix has now released new images that give a first look at characters from the Fire Nation.
Among them is one of the main characters, Prince Zuko (played by Dallas Liu), who desperately tries to capture the Avatar to restore his honor. Also involved is Zuko’s uncle and mentor, General Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee).
Also seen are Zuko’s ruthless sister Azula (Elizabeth Yu), his merciless father Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim), and Admiral Zhao (Ken Leung).

Where do you know the actors from?
Like most young stars of the series, the actors portraying Zuko and Azula are still relatively unknown.
Elizabeth Yu (Azula) was first seen in 2022 in the film “Somewhere in Queens.” Zuko actor Dallas Liu has been in the industry a bit longer. He made his first appearance in the film “Tekken” in 2009 and was also seen in the Marvel production “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”
For the adult roles, Netflix has secured several veteran actors. For instance, Ken Leung (Admiral Zhao), who has been in the business for many years. After his debut in 1995, he appeared in films like “Saw,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
Probably the most well-known is Daniel Dae Kim (Fire Lord Ozai), with his appearances in prominent series like “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-o.”
