The second season of the Netflix series Arcane based on League of Legends is confirmed. It is currently in production. The first hints about a release and a trailer come directly from Riot.
What’s new? Riot Games and Netflix confirmed the second season of the series Arcane. Co-creators of Arcane, Christian Linke and Alex Yee, say: “We are thrilled with the positive feedback on the first season of Arcane and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver the second portion.”
Via Twitter, the CEO of Riot Games, Nicolo Laurent, gives a first hint at a release date for Arcane Season 2. Here, we show you all the information that is already known about the second season of Arcane.

A character is hinted at in the trailer
LoL players might hear a familiar sound in the trailer, which you know from the character Warwick and his ability Blood Hunt. This could be a teaser for one of the characters from Season 2.
Release date for Season 2: On Twitter , Nicolo Laurent, the CEO of Riot Games, writes that they are already working on Season 2. He adds: “The good news is: You do not have to wait 6 years for it (That’s how long Season 1 took us). The bad news: It will not come in 2022 :'(“
This tweet causes many discussions in the LoL community and among fans of Arcane. A few have the hope that Riot secretly worked on Season 2 during the six years and that we might see the first episodes as early as 2021.
However, at this point, it is more likely that Season 2 of Arcane will have a release date in 2023 or 2024.
What you need to know about Season 1 of Arcane
How did the first season go? Immediately upon the release of Arcane on Netflix, the series celebrated great success. On IMDB, the series ranks with a rating of 9.4 / 10 based on 37,000 ratings (as of November 21 via IMDB). With this rating, Arcane is similarly strong as heavyweight shows:
- One Earth – Many Worlds from 2016 with a rating of 9.5
- Planet Earth from 2006 with a rating of 9.4
- Breaking Bad from 2008 with a rating of 9.4
- Band of Brothers from 2001 with a rating of 9.4
- Chernobyl from 2019 with a rating of 9.3
Keep in mind that the other series in this top 6 have all already received over 100,000 ratings, and with more ratings, Arcane’s rating can still change.
