In Call of Duty: Warzone a highly bizarre bug is making the rounds. If someone manages to pull off a particularly nasty execution kill, they can die themselves under certain circumstances and cannot defend themselves.
What happened? In Call of Duty: Warzone, player and streamer Clint “Maven” Evans tried to get back into the game through an execution in the Gulag. Such executions are particularly cool methods to kill an opponent. One sneaks up from behind and presses the melee button. Then, in an animation, the opponent is brutally taken out.
Therefore, Maven was already excited when he unexpectedly surprised an unsuspecting opponent in the Gulag this way. But instead of killing the opponent, the streamer suddenly died himself and was ultimately removed from the game. He only realized this seconds later because he had turned away from the screen in joy to celebrate his assassination kill. When he realized that he was instead dead, he could hardly believe what had happened.

What was the cause of the self-kill? After streamer Maven asked his chat and Twitter, responses soon started coming in. Apparently, there is a bizarre bug that eliminates the attacker in the case of an execution.
But only if the victim is holding a throwing knife as a weapon. According to some responses via Twitter, this reliably triggers the death of the executor and would even provide protection against such treacherous attacks.
What are the developers doing? Of course, this “effect” is not intended and should be fixed quickly, after all, it is hard enough to successfully execute such executions. To die without the possibility of defending oneself is extremely frustrating. However, the bug with the throwing knife and the backfiring executions has not yet appeared in the developers’ bug list on Trello.
