Limited Edition, Collector’s Edition or the Standard Edition? You can spend a lot of money on Destiny 2. Is that something you’re considering?
Today’s “Mein-MMO asks” is all about Destiny 2. The sequel to the MMO shooter Destiny was officially announced a good week ago with a impressive reveal trailer and got many Guardians directly on the hype train.
Destiny 2 will be a standalone game, set to be released on September 8, 2017, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. You can only transfer the appearance of your characters from Destiny 1 – all progress and items will be left behind. The story justifies this by stating that an attack by the Cabal on the Last City and the Tower destroyed all existing weapons and armor pieces. You can find detailed information about Destiny 2 here.
At the same time as the reveal trailer, pre-orders for Destiny 2 started. Today, we want to know from you: Are you taking advantage of the pre-order options or are you waiting until there is more information about Destiny 2? And which edition are you choosing?
Which edition should I choose?
If you want to pre-order Destiny 2, you first need to make a decision: Which edition should you get?
The Standard Edition only includes the main game, but is at 70 euros (60 euros for PC) the cheapest option. If you want to prepare for the future and pay for the two expansions that are likely to be released in winter 2017 and spring 2018 in advance, you can also purchase a bundle of the Standard Edition and expansion pass for 30 euros more.
Through the console stores, you can secure all digital content for 110 euros: The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the main game, the expansion pass, and digital bonus content: a badge, an emote, and a legendary sword.
With the limited edition and the Collector’s Edition, you also get a number of goodies. For a hefty 250 euros (240 for PC), the Collector’s Edition includes a steelbook case, a collector’s box, a frontierlands backpack, and a frontierlands kit.
These are all things that many Destiny fans would be excited about. But is it really worth 250 euros to you? Or do you only want the digital content since you can’t make use of the other stuff? Do you say, “The Standard Edition is enough!”?
Pre-order – yes or no?
The topic of “pre-ordering” is a controversial one within the gaming community. Those who pre-order a game about which there is still little known are essentially buying a pig in a poke. And hardly anything is known about Destiny 2 yet. We only know what the story setting will look like at the beginning. We won’t get a look at the gameplay until May. Is it worth pre-ordering now?
While many fans have already thrown their money at the monitor, many respond with: “No!” After all, the release is still months away, so there’s no need to open your wallet for something about which little is known. Don’t fall for the pre-order bonuses that are being advertised.
Ttime says: I know it all too well. When you’re caught up in the hype, it’s extremely hard to resist the tempting offers. Many of my friends have pre-ordered Destiny 2 directly – by the way, mostly the bundle of Standard Edition and expansion pass. They had the thought: If Destiny 2 is even remotely as brilliant as Destiny 1, this money is well spent. For so many hours of gameplay, you rarely pay so little in ratio. And if there are unpleasant surprises before the launch, they can always cancel the order…
But now we want your opinion: Have you already pre-ordered Destiny 2 or are you still waiting? Which edition are you planning to get? Are you willing to pay 250 euros for the Collector’s Edition?
The Limited Edition and the Collector’s Edition are currently sold out. Here are some offers on Amazon for the Standard Editions:
