A new event has started in Monster Hunter World. The battle-hardened Zorah Magdaros is now available and brings you new rewards. However, fans are rather disappointed. What is the reason for this?
After the last battle against the battle-hardened Lunastra, the next Elder Dragon is now in the spotlight since October 19th. You have the chance to slay him until November 2nd.
However, fans are not very enthusiastic, as the fight is hardly different from the original version. On Reddit, the event is barely receiving any acclaim, and it’s even described as the worst battle-hardened monster so far.
Why is the battle-hardened Zorah receiving such poor feedback?
Fans are unsatisfied with the entire fight. Most had hoped for greater differences compared to the original battle. However, it was already feared beforehand that the battle-hardened Zorah Magdaros would belong to the more annoying quests.
That’s why fans were not very excited beforehand: The Zorah quest is one of the so-called siege quests, which always follow the same pattern and are not just regular fights. They usually take significantly longer than normal quests.
Here are the community’s criticisms:
- Many players are disappointed because the quest unfolds exactly like the normal Zorah.
- Some players had hoped for an appearance of the battle-hardened Nergigante.
- Some call the fight against Zorah the worst of all battle-hardened ones.
- Additionally, the Gamma armor is not considered one of the best. Many expected better rewards for so much effort.

Most had already anticipated these points and are not particularly surprised. What many view more negatively is the shorter time limit.
In addition to the larger amount of health points and greater damage, you only have 25 minutes to stop the Zorah.
As JJGIII writes:
I can live with the fact that they, as expected, haven’t added anything new (no further exploration of Zorah Magdaros, no battle-hardened Nergigante, etc.), but the timer really bothers me. That (the shorter time) just seems unnecessary.
Here’s how you can improve your times: Some players therefore recommend having the skills Felyne Bombardier and Heavy Artillery to deal as much damage as possible with the cannons and save time. Apparently, you also gain time by driving away Nergigante as early as possible.

This is what the Zorah quest is about
The Zorah Magdaros is one of the largest Elder Dragons and looks like a giant moving volcano. Although it is among the largest, in your opinion, it is not one of the 5 strongest monsters.
What can you expect from the event? During the quest, you have to destroy magma cores on the back of the monster and fend off the Nergigante in the meantime. Afterward, it’s about repelling Zorah’s onslaught with cannons.
The Zorah Magdaros is more dangerous in its battle-hardened form. It can take more damage and deals greater damage as well.
These are the rewards: By defeating Zorah, you will receive special tickets. With these, you can craft pieces of the new Gamma armor of Zorah Magdaros.
There’s also a new decorative armor, which veterans should recognize as the old guild armor.
What’s next? The battle-hardened Xeno’Jiiva is likely next in line. When we can expect the event is still unknown. However, there’s already a leak of its Gamma armor.
Moreover, a highly anticipated monster, Kulve Taroth, is coming to PC. In the siege quest, the goal is to obtain the horns.
What do you think of the event?
